Alberto Del Rio Confirms Match With Andrade This Summer, Says Nacion Lucha Libre Will Return
Alberto Del Rio is set to clash with Andrade this July.
Alberto confirmed the match in a new interview with Super Luchas; the match will take place on July 31 in McAllen, Texas. Alberto also touted Kalisto and Cinta de Oro (fka Sin Cara) in tag team action against El Hijo de Dos Caras & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr on the card, and Sexy Star, Blue Demon Jr. and Primo & Epico Colon were advertised.
Alberto also shared details on Nación Lucha Libre’s return, announcing a second season is in the early stages of production. He said they originally wanted to run in May, but the series will now be produced on a closed set and there are television agreements in place. He said the Colóns, La Máscara, Cinta de Oro and Kalisto are involved with the project.
Andrade was released by WWE on March 21 and did not have a non-compete clause as a condition of his release. Kalisto was cut by WWE on April 15, but he would be free to compete by the date of the event.
Alberto, real name Jose Rodriguez Chucuan, is set to go on trial on May 3 on the charges of sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. Previously, the accuser had apologized to him “for the damages caused by my mistakes” by later retracted the social media post. It was noted earlier that while the woman isn’t pursuing charges anymore, the state of Texas is the only party that can actually dismiss the charges and they are still going forward with the case.
