Al Snow Saves A Child Caught In Ocean Riptide At Florida Beach
Al Snow saved a boy’s life in Florida on Thursday after pulling him from an ocean riptide at a Florida beach.
According to TMZ, Al Snow was at Santa Rosa Beach in Destin, Florida and heard someone yelling and screaming in the water. He looked around and saw a boy being pulled out by the current and decided to take action since he determined the lifeguard on duty wouldn’t make it in time.
“The water was pretty rough, especially in one particular area, and I think the riptide caught him because every time a wave would come in, it would pull him further out and I could see him starting to panic. I heard the mom scream for somebody to help him and the lifeguard had gotten up, but I knew she wasn’t going to make it in time. I was still pretty far away, but I started running through the water, trying to get over there. I made it, thank God, and I caught him by the arm just as a wave started pulling him even further out,” Snow explained to TMZ. “If I hadn’t grabbed him, I think he would have went out to sea, and that would’ve been it.
“I pulled him in and told him to hold on and thought, honestly, of Shad Gaspard for a second because a wave took us both under right then. I was able to stay up and hand him off to the lifeguard, and I made my way back across to my friend,” Snow stated. “I felt like I was about to collapse, I was exhausted.”
Snow said neither he nor the child was injured, then shared what the reception was like on the beach after his heroic efforts that day.
“The mom ran out in the water and said thank you, and she was crying. When we were up on the beach, she and [Braden, the child] came up and thanked me again. She said, ‘Braden said the bodybuilder saved me’ and I was like, ‘Ooh, I must look pretty good!’ [laughs] Thankfully, nobody was hurt and rightfully, he was scared and shaken up at first.”
Al Snow recently spoke with WrestleZone’s Dominic DeAngelo about his career highlights, which included his run with “Head” in WWE. He talked about the origins of the character, as well as his current role running Ohio Valley Wrestling in Kentucky. Check out our full interview with Al Snow at this link.
