The recent retirement hint from AJ Styles may have been a cunning ploy to draw in his rival, Cody Rhodes, but it’s also evident that the seasoned professional wrestler is set on wrapping up his career in WWE.
Dropping a retirement hint during the recent WWE SmackDown episode, Styles caught Rhodes off guard with an unexpected assault, thereby making his intentions towards the coveted WWE Championship crystal clear.
During his recent dialogue with sports platform “Le 10 Sport,” Styles revealed his aspirations involving his wrestling career. He affirmed that he has no ambition of associating with another wrestling promotion prior to his retirement. His prerogatives were clarified when he said,
“Of course, my ultimate aim is laying claim to the Heavyweight Champion title. At the same time, being a team player is equally significant. I always aspire to be a contributing member of the team rather than being selfish or under the illusion of entitlement. None of us are entitled to anything; we need to work hard for it. While my goal is to reach the pinnacle, I strive to be a team worker on the way. I undoubtedly aspire to conclude my career here. Upon retiring, I would prefer it to be right here, in WWE.”
Styles announced in 2019 that he had signed what was projected to be his last wrestling contract, yet he got on board with WWE again a few years later with a new agreement.
Speculations suggest that Styles has set his sights on challenging Cody Rhodes in the impending WWE Clash At The Castle: Scotland, although the match confirmation is yet to be publicized.
