WWE SmackDown witnessed the return of AJ Styles into the wrestling ring tonight. However, there was little reason for joy for ‘The Phenomenal One.’

A spontaneous promo executed by Carmelo Hayes interrupted Styles’ return and led to a sudden match. Unfortunately, Styles had to bow out halfway due to an injury. As per the commentary by Michael Cole and Corey Graves, referee Charles Robinson and supportive trainers suspected a sprained ankle as the cause.

Styles made commendable attempts to continue the matchup despite the injury. However, Robinson intervened and called for the bell, signaling the termination of the match. The referee threw up a distressing ‘X’ sign, calling for further medical assistance to guide the ex-world champ back to safety.

“AJ STYLES WAS INJURED DURING THE MATCH AND THEY HAD TO END THE MATCH 💔💔💔💔💔#Smackdown” said a twitter post from FadeAway Media on October 5, 2024.

In a positive twist to the narrative, LA Knight went after Hayes post the match. Previously, LA Knight had mentioned his intent to discuss with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis about giving Hayes a shot at the United States Championship. However, details about any such future title matches remain uncertain. Questions remain whether Styles’ injury is part of an elaborate plot or a genuine one.

“The match is called off after an injury to AJ Styles. LA Knight then lays out Carmelo Hayes. #SmackDown” tweeted SubToSlamX on October 5, 2024.
