AJ Lee may not have completely shut the door on a possible WWE comeback, despite not currently pursuing it actively, according to former wrestler CM Punk.
During WWE Money in the Bank 2024, Punk caused a disruption in the World Heavyweight Championship match, hindering Drew McIntyre’s opportunity to cash in his Money in the Bank opportunity.
During the media interaction following the event, Punk was questioned about AJ Lee. He shared the decision for a potential return to the wrestling ring solely rests with his wife. He quoted,
“I hesitate to say ‘never say never’ as it only fuels false hopes. At the same time, I won’t presume to speak for her or suggest what could unfold. This is very much a new era and many didn’t anticipate my appearance. The decision is entirely hers. Often, I joke about being a clueless husband as I’m usually in the dark about the projects she’s working on. For instance, she’d mention a meeting and I’m left guessing – Netflix? Hulu, CBS perhaps? She’s truly a busy bee with multiple things on her plate.”
Since the post-WrestleMania 31 edition of RAW, Lee hasn’t been seen competing for WWE. Instead, she has diversified her career, stepping into the world of movies and aligning with the WOW – Women of Wrestling promotion.
