In a recent conversation with NFL.com, AJ Francis talked about his journey in TNA Wrestling. He revealed how he transitioned from a person who was not taken seriously to one of the most successful villains in the industry. Francis is set to compete against Nic Nemeth for the highly coveted TNA World Title in the upcoming Final Resolution 2024 event.

Here are few key takeaways from the interview:

Touching upon the importance of the Final Resolution event, Francis stated, “Friday’s match is undeniably a milestone in my career. This is my first-ever world title match. Some of the wrestlers in the industry strive for decades but never get a chance to fight for a world title as reputable as the TNA. So, being in the ring for such an esteemed title is both, an honor and a privilege.”

Reflecting on how he changed perceptions about himself, Francis expressed, “Just one year ago, I was being mocked in the wrestling world. From being a laughing stock to becoming the best antagonist in the business today, all it required was an opportunity.”

Discussing his stint with WWE compared to TNA, Francis opined, “WWE is a well-established brand and they don’t need anybody. They have the liberty to choose who they want to represent them. Over the years, they have been successful in doing so. Yet, they have overlooked talents like Cody Rhodes for instance. Personally, I didn’t need the backing of WWE. Rather, I am a robust entity myself. During my WWE tenure, I felt like a substitute offensive lineman, used occasionally as per the need. However, my experience with TNA is different. Here, I am analogous to a Pro Bowl quarterback or even a Super Bowl-contending quarterback.”
