On Saturday’s edition of AEW Collision, Tony Khan announced a new round-robin tournament called the Continental Classic that will feature twelve wrestlers competing in a tournament similar to the G1 Climax in NJPW.

The tournament will commence on AEW Dynamite in Chicago, IL on November 22 with the finals scheduled for AEW Worlds End 2023 on December 30.

Fightful Select is reporting that the announcement was kept very quiet on Saturday night, and the video clip wasn’t shown to the live audience.

The report further states that the segment on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite featuring Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks was filmed the previous week.

A “Like A Dragon Gaiden Street Fight” is booked for this week’s AEW Dynamite and will feature Kenny Omega, Paul Wight, Kota Ibushi, and Chris Jericho facing off against Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Kyle Fletcher, and Brian Cage.

Guevara was originally planned for the match, but Cage replaced him. In addition, the original name pitched for the bout was the “Final Boss Battle Street Fight.”

Guevara has not yet been cleared to return after suffering a concussion last month at AEW WrestleDream 2023.
