AEW Reveals Its First Three Video Games, One Developed By Yuke’s
During a YouTube stream, which you can watch in full above, All Elite Wrestling revealed its first three video games in production: one for consoles, two for mobile phones.
Kenny Omega with a Steve Jobs-esque black turtleneck introduced the game and said that he’s been looking forward to this for two-and-a-half years. After a brief recap of All Elite Wrestling, Omega said he wants games to be fun to pick up like “NFL Blitz” and “NBA Jam.” He then showed early footage of a fake pixelated title and then said fans want something more to be like “No Mercy.”
We then got actual footage of the game, which is coming to current and next-gen consoles. We then saw Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega face off before intergender footage of Hikaru Shida facing off against Omega. It is developed by Yuke’s, who previously worked worked on many WWE titles from “WWF SmackDown!” through “WWE 2K19.”
The other game was introduced by Aubrey Edwards, who is helping make a mobile game. It’s called “Elite General Manager,” and has players signing wrestlers and acting as a GM for the brand.
Finally, Cody Rhodes revealed AEW Casino Double or Nothing is coming this winter to phones. No gameplay was shown, but it appears to be a virtual casino complete with poker.
