AEW Rampage Viewership For 8/27 Sees A Drop Following CM Punk Debut

It would have been a tough go for AEW Rampage to mimic the previous week’s ratings considering you had CM Punk returning to wrestling after seven and a half years and the third rendition of the show did see a fall back to earth.

According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, the 8/27 episode of Rampage accrued a viewership of 722,000, over a 400,000 difference in comparison to last week’s historic number of 1,219,000. The 18-49 demographic also encountered a dip with viewership being at 434,000 which is under a 300,000 difference from CM Punk’s debut which roped in 692,000 sets of eyes.

This week’s Rampage did happen to have Punk in a video package promoting his All Out match against Darby Allin on the program. Also, Punk did come out to thank the fans in Milwaukee off the air after Christian and Frankie Kazarian defeated Kenny Omega and Brandon Cutler in the main event. The show also featured Eddie Kingston brawling with Miro, Tay Conti losing to The Bunny under auspicious means and kicked off with a memorable Eliminator tag match between Jurassic Express and The Lucha Bros. This Friday’s episode of Rampage already has a rematch between Darby Allin and Daniel Garcia on the card.

WWE Smackdown last week Friday on Fox was watched by 2,250,000 viewers, the most since the July 16 return to touring episode. 764,000 viewers were aged 18 to 49 (0.59 rating).

AEW Rampage on TNT was watched by 722,000. 434,000 in 18-49 (0.34).https://t.co/nm0CgHuE7N pic.twitter.com/RLa8CgwkMh
