AEW Rampage delivered for TNT as the premiere episode accrued an impressive amount of viewers for it’s 10 PM EST spot.
According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, the debut of Rampage garnered a 740,000 number in viewership on Friday, August 13. As far as the cherished 18-49 demographic, the show received a .30 number, making it just under 400,000 at 396K viewers. The only programs to top that on Friday night cable were the two NFL preseason games that evening.
The hour-long Rampage premiere had three matches on the card and it kicked off hot with Christian Cage defeating Kenny Omega for his IMPACT World Heavyweight Title. That was then followed up by a very game Fuego Del Sol getting squashed by Miro in successful defense of his AEW TNT Championship and the night was capped off by Pittsburgh hometown hero, Britt Baker, successfully defending her AEW Women’s World Championship against Red Velvet. Next week’s Rampage is set up for a potentially larger number as the much hyped “First Dance” in Chicago is set to go down with plenty of buzz being that this will be the AEW debut and pro wrestling return of CM Punk.
