AEW continues to strengthen their bond with Warner Bros. Discovery, as they currently are in the process of negotiating new contractual terms.
The recent episode of AEW Dynamite on July 10th was filled to the brim with engaging content. The forthcoming show next week is also expected to boast an equally impressive lineup of features.
Tony Khan, AEW’s President had underlined in the past the critical role of producing rich, impactful shows to potentially secure a lucrative agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery.
According to the latest dispatch of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer informed that the fresh contract between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery was still awaiting finalization. This scenario reportedly increased Khan’s determination to produce remarkable content, hoping to clinch a new media rights agreement.
Meltzer stated, “There’s nothing new, other than the reason that these shows have been so loaded is because negotiations aren’t done, and they’re really looking to get the best foot forward. These ratings for this week, and next week and the weeks moving forward until the contract is signed, if it is signed — which presumably it will — but, these ratings are important as far as the final payment numbers and time slots and all the other stuff that’s going into the negotiations, all aspects of it. If the product looks hot in the ratings, it’ll help them. That’s why the next week is loaded, and the next two weeks will be very big shows.”
With the NBA no longer on TNT, Warner Bros. Discovery shows keen interest in obtaining a sports franchise. Presently, AEW is being considered for acquisition, but is contingent on the final agreement.
Yet, Khan stands firm in his faith regarding the alliance and remains hopeful about sealing the new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery soon.
