Now for my take…
For me, the less exciting parts of any AEW event generally revolve around matches that lack a compelling storyline or purpose, featuring players that don’t grab my interest; they merely execute a series of moves. Since AEW tends to emphasize the matches over the storytelling, bouts like Nick Wayne and CRU against AR Fox and Top Flight Zero Hour didn’t catch my interest. However, I enjoyed watching Anthony Bowens triumph over Max Caster in the open challenge.
Coming to the main card, the bouts that come across as relatively ordinary include Toni Storm taking on Megan Bayne, the trios title match, and the tag title match. MJF’s engagements with The Hurt Syndicate seem quite out of place and it failed to impress me. The expected RESULT with FTR parting ways with Cope was not something I was too eager about further exploration.
However, there were some shining moments. In my view, the International Championship match stole the show. Kenny Omega, Ricochet, and Mike Bailey truly excelled.
I must admit, despite not being a fan of this Death Riders storyline, I found the twist of “Hangman” Adam Page’s involvement in the main event and the surprise return of the Young Bucks to outdo Swerve Strickland very intriguing. I found these plotlines far more captivating than the continuing saga of Jon Moxley.
