The AEW Dynamite’s Grand Slam special episode saw a surge in audience numbers and ratings. AEW Dynamite successfully pulled in 702,000 viewers with a 0.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a 0.16 rating in the 18-34 demographic.
Detailed information, including quarter-hour data, has been released by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The AEW Dynamite’s main opponent on the night was the WNBA game, which was aired between the Connecticut Sun and the Indiana Fever, pushing Caitlin Clark to the forefront of the rising stars. With 2,537,000 viewers and a 0.55 rating on ESPN, this game claimed the leading position.
AEW Dynamite, however, secured the #2 place in its time slot and the #3 position throughout the night on cable. The late ESPN game featuring the Minnesota Lynx and the Phoenix Mercury secured 1,216,000 viewers and a 0.33 rating. Meanwhile, Survivor was the most-watched TV show, scoring 4,466,000 viewers and a 0.72 rating.
AEW Dynamite noted a 2.5% increase in viewership compared to the previous week. The ratings in the demographics 18-49 and 18-34 also saw an increase by 13.3% and 26.7% respectively. Compared to the previous year, however, viewership witnessed a reduction by 17.9%, and the ratings in the 18-49 and 18-34 demographics decreased by 6.6% and 11.6% respectively.
AEW Dynamite attracted 76,000 male and 38,000 female viewers within the 18-34 demographic. Additionally, 130,000 males and 70,000 females watched in the 35-49 demographic, resulting in an audience consisting 60.4% of males within the 18-49 demographic.
Consecutive quarter ratings include: Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness with 802,000 viewers and 363,000 in the 18-49 demographic, HOOK vs. Roderick Strong with 724,000 viewers and 305,000 in the 18-49 demographic, The Young Bucks vs. Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher with 679,000 viewers and 299,000 in the 18-49 demographic and finally, the confrontation between Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley which entertained 708,000 viewers with 327,000 in the 18-49 demographic.
