In a recent appearance on the “NotSam Wrestling” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Adam “Edge” Copeland discussed some ideas for The Judgment Day that he came up with at the time the faction was put together.
Unfortunately, those ideas didn’t work and Copeland was eventually forced out of the group courtesy of Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley.
You can check out some highlights from the interview below:
On some early ideas for The Judgment Day: “At one point it was talked about a cauldron with bubbling black fluid and I’m holding a pitchfork. I was like, ‘Whoa…I don’t want to do that because that’s not going to work.’ There was one week, they wanted us to float to the ring. ‘What?’ ‘No, we’ll put it on a dolly.’ Then, I’m sitting on a throne and Priest is full core engaged because he’s basically surfing holding onto this thing, and all I felt going as we’re going down was ‘This is Spinal Tap. This is Spinal Tap.’”
On the floating entrance not working: “We got to the back and I was like, ‘I don’t think that entrance works, guys.’ But, it was, ‘I’ll give it a shot.’ It ain’t my sandbox. I don’t cut the checks. This is what you want, I’ll try and make it work, but I’ll also be the first one to tell you, ‘That didn’t work. We probably shouldn’t do that anymore, right?’”

The Judgment Day is a faction in the world of professional wrestling that was formed with some unique and creative ideas. However, these ideas didn’t quite work out as planned, leading to the departure of one of its members, Adam “Edge” Copeland.
In a recent interview on the “NotSam Wrestling” podcast, Copeland shared some insights into the early ideas for The Judgment Day. One of the ideas involved Copeland holding a pitchfork while standing next to a cauldron filled with bubbling black fluid. Copeland expressed his reservations about this concept, realizing that it wouldn’t resonate well with the audience.
Another idea that was suggested was for the members of The Judgment Day to float to the ring. Copeland recalled his skepticism about this entrance, but he was willing to give it a try. However, after experiencing the floating entrance, he quickly realized that it didn’t work as intended. Despite his concerns, Copeland acknowledged that he was just following the creative direction given to him and was willing to try anything to make it work.
The interview also included a clip showcasing Adam Copeland’s career as Edge, from his time in WWE as the Ultimate Opportunist to his current stint in AEW as the Rated R Superstar. This clip provided fans with a glimpse into Copeland’s journey and the impact he has made in the wrestling industry.
While The Judgment Day may not have achieved the success they had hoped for with their initial ideas, it is important to remember that experimentation and creativity are essential aspects of professional wrestling. Not every idea will be a hit, but it is through trial and error that new and exciting concepts can emerge.
