Adam Cole isn’t free and clear to sign where he wants just yet…

According to a report from Fightful Select, Adam Cole’s contract will expire this Friday. It was noted that Cole had not signed a new contract as of this past weekend, when he had what is believed to be his final match for WWE at Sunday’s NXT TakeOver event. PWInsider also reported on Cole’s status, noting that the internal belief at WWE is that Cole is considered done with the company.

There’s been plenty of rumors and speculation that Cole might pop up on AEW programming this week, but Fightful’s report notes that it’s not even legally possible since he’s still under contract this week. It was explained that Cole hasn’t signed a new contract yet, but WWE sources expect a new offer to be presented to him this week.

Despite Cole still being under contract with WWE, it’s worth noting that it was an extension of his original contract that actually expired after the Great American Bash. Wrestling Inc first reported that Cole’s contract had expired this summer, but he signed a short-term extension that would at least keep him with the company through SummerSlam week until a deal could be worked out.

Adam Cole lost a 2-out-of-3 falls match dubbed “The Undisputed Finale”to Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver on Sunday. Check out full results from the event at this link.
