Adam Cole, in his recent guesting on the “Q101” show, shared his experience managing his recent health issues and dealing with the mental aspects of the recovery period.
Some relevant takeaways from the podcast are as follows:
Speaking about the most challenging part of his recent injury break: “Undoubtedly, the mental aspect [was hardest throughout his recovery period]. There were tangible physical challenges, linked to both the concussion and the ankle injury. The inability to walk or move can be truly devastating. Going through rehab and therapy is painful, too. But the mental challenge was indeed the hardest part. These past two years have been strenuous. Having to come back from the concussion injury, then back to the groove for six months, only for an unpredictable accident to occur was mentally really tough.”
About his position in the locker room now: “Conversations with talented wrestlers who recall ‘I was in the Hammerstein Ballroom watching your match with Kyle O’Reilly back in 2012 as a fan,’ is so surreal. I avoid dwelling on it as I am hopeful for a long future in my career. But, it’s a cool feeling to be in a position to advise the young guys, being aware that I have a lot left in my career. It is strange to realise ‘I’m not the fresh talent anymore.’”
In a recent appearance on the “CHGO Wrestling” show, Ricochet shared his thoughts on the upcoming 2024 AEW Continental Classic, set to kick off tonight on AEW Dynamite.
Some highlights from his chat are as follows:
His thoughts on the Continental Classic: “It’s amusing how people have clear-cut opinions about my matches, or even Ospreay’s matches; they either absolutely love them or detest them [laughs]. There’s no ‘it was okay’. It’s either, ‘That was spectacular,’ or, ‘That was terrible.’ But, I cherish that. Regarding the Continental Classic, I believe it’s brimming with possibilities and is unpredictable. Our Gold League boasts many standout performers, and similarly, there are many potential stars in the Blue League.”
His projections for the tournament: “I think it’s going to be a thrilling ride. Participating in the Continental Classic was among my primary reasons for joining AEW after witnessing it last year. Moreover, it’s common knowledge that Ricochet excels at tournaments. Winning tournaments feels like another day in the office for me, whether it’s Battle of Los Angeles, Best of Super Junior, Dragon Gate’s King of Gate, and I can go on. I’m certain that the Continental Classic will be another feather in my cap of achievements.”
