Adam Cole recently made a guest appearance on the “Stick To Wrestling” podcast, where he shared some insights regarding his narrative with MJF in AEW. He shed some light on whether there were preliminary plans for him to take the AEW World Championship from MJF before his unexpected injury.
Here are key excerpts from the podcast:
Regarding possible plans for him to defeat MJF and secure the title: “In our business of professional wrestling, plans are subject to constant change, with new ideas being pitched all the time. So, can I confirm that I was pegged to become the AEW World Champion? It’s hard to say. However, it certainly felt like the narrative was directed that way, and had it not been for my injury, it could very likely have become a reality. The injury admittedly compounded my mental stress during this whole period.”
On encountering unexpected challenges in wrestling: “We face obstacles on a regular basis. It’s all about adaptability and changing our strategies. I still have a significant proportion of my wrestling career ahead of me, and I remain hopeful that the AEW World Title will one day be mine.”
In another recent episode of the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast, Bobby Cruise reminisced about All In 2018 and how he joined forces with Justin Roberts to handle the ring announcing duties.
Roberts and Cruise were responsible for all the calls at the pay-per-view event, and Cruise shared his experiences about this event on the podcast.
Here are some standout moments from the podcast:
On getting selected for the show: “I found it amusing. I was often asked if I was going to be a part of All In. This became a trend during the Ring Of Honor events whenever the Bucks would check with me, ‘Hey Bobby, are you All In?’ I was never sure until we had a show in New York City, where I was confirmed to be ‘All In’. I was thrilled as I knew this was going to be quite an experience.”
Concerning Roberts’ inclusion: “During a Ring Of Honor event in England, while waiting for the bus outside the hotel, I was asked my thoughts on Justin joining me for the show. There was a concern that the event shouldn’t come across as exclusively an ROH production. While there were talents who had never appeared in ROH, it was crucial that the show maintained a distinct identity. Hence, they included me for the ring announcing, Ian for commentary, and Paul as a referee. The idea was to mix in unfamiliar talent to create a unique spectacle. I was open to working with Justin – we’d had interactions before but had never collaborated on a project. I thought the idea was exciting, and it indeed turned out to be. We essentially alternated announcing every other match, making it a simple and effective arrangement.”
