Adam Cole: Hurting Kyle O’Reilly Is More Important Than Winning

Just a few hours before NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, Adam Cole previewed his Unsanctioned Match with Kyle O’Reilly on WWE’s The Bump.

The former NXT Champion made it clear that his top priority on Wednesday night will be to inflict as much pain as possible. For a wrestler who usually values winning over everything, this mindset is a stark shift, but this bitter feud is an exception.

“This is going to be like nothing that anybody has ever seen before,” said Cole. “I don’t care if you’ve been following my career since 2008. I recently celebrated my 13th year as a pro wrestler. If you’ve been following everything I’ve been doing, everything Kyle O’Reilly has been doing, you still will not have seen what I’m going to do to him.

“The things that I’m going to do to Kyle O’Reilly will not be anything that anybody has ever seen before. I am going to hurt him. Ever since I came into NXT, my goal at the end of the day was to win. I have never before said this. Regardless of winning and losing, winning is 1B to me right now. Winning is 1B. I have never said that.”

Cole also stated that this mission isn’t a choice, as he feels like he needs to punish his former stablemate.

“My goal is to hurt Kyle O’Reilly. I do not want to do this to him. I have to do this to him, and it’s Kyle O’Reilly’s fault.”
