In a recent episode of the podcast “The Ringer Wrestling Worldwide”, Adam Cole reminisced about his initial WWE NXT debut. He disclosed a nearly embarrassing incident involving his choice of footwear during his entry to confront Drew McIntyre at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III.
Here are some of the notable points from his discussion on the podcast:
Speaking about his WWE NXT debut, he said, “I’m truly pleased you’ve brought this topic up because I’m uncertain if I have ever shared this anecdote prior to now. It was a monumental night for me. I knew I was going to play a key role in an impactful scene, tackling Drew McIntyre. My feelings were a mix of nerves and excitement. The adrenaline surging through my veins at that instant was electrifying. I recollect making my entrance wearing jeans and dress shoes, without giving it much thought.”
Commenting on his thoughts in that moment, he added, “There were innumerable things occupying my mind. As I was making my descent and the audience was reacting, I could sense my adrenaline mounting. My legs began to feel shaky, my hands were tingling. I was brimming with anticipation. As I was about to enter the ring, I nearly tripped. The camera didn’t capture it. I am relieved I didn’t tumble. Can you imagine? Making a debut, and then just taking a fall, how catastrophic that would have been.”
Cole also commented about nearly losing his footing at that moment, “My enthusiasm almost cost me when I attempted to dash into the scene wearing dress shoes and jeans. I just about lost my balance but managed to steady myself, thankfully. That made me realize, ‘I cannot repeat the mistake of wearing jeans and dress shoes.’ I’ve made many frantic entrances in jeans, but I’ve resolved to at least wear comfortable shoes or footwear that provides better grip. That was a truly hair-raising experience. It could have culminated in a disastrous way.”
