Ace Romero: Fans Will Be ‘Pleasantly Surprised And Very Entertained’ By XXXL (…Once Larry D Busts Out Of Jail)
The Watch List takes a look at what matches you should be watching while you’re at home and they come recommended by your favorite professional wrestling stars. WrestleZone recently spoke with Ace Romero, who recently competed in the Limitless Wrestling Vacationland Cup and is now working on reuniting with his “convicted” tag team partner, Larry D.
Ace joked that he felt bad since he was on media calls and shooting the breeze while Larry was rotting in jail (for shooting John E. Bravo), but said he sees tag team gold in their future.
“Short term goal right now is just—well, other than Larry being in jail, which was not in our plans—I like what we’re doing now. We gotta do things for the here and the now. I like what IMPACT Wrestling is bringing to the table right now. We’re different. We’ve been different. We’ve been trying different things. It’s a COVID world. It’s a different world. I thought the idea of Wrestle House was gonna be kind of weird at first, and we got to filming it and it turned out amazing. It was something different for people to watch because it gets kind of stale when you’re wrestling in front of no people or TV screens or what have you. I like what we’re doing now. Once we get Larry out of ‘the clink,’ our goal is to be the biggest tag team in IMPACT history, to be the champions.”
When asked for a match pick for either his singles career or burgeoning tag team career, Ace said there’s plenty to pick from in the singles archives but the best is yet to come as far as XXXL is concerned.
“I’ve had a lot of great matches with a literal ‘who’s who’ of professional wrestling. My earlier Limitless stuff, I worked with guys like AR Fox and Donovan Dijak, Anthony Greene, we’ve had great matches. As far as the tag team game, me and Larry are a brand new tag team. We’ve only been teaming for the better part or less than a year, but I’m really proud of the stuff we were able to do with the Motor City Machine Guns. I promise you that there’s way more to come from what we’ve shown so far. There’s a lot of things people have seen that we can do that we haven’t shown off, so I think that people are going to be pleasantly surprised and very entertained when the time comes.”
