In the most recent installment of his podcast “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy”, Matt Hardy touched on a variety of subjects.
The podcast featured a discussion regarding Damian Priest’s defense of the World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre in the imminent Clash at the Castle: Scotland pay-per-view event.
Below, find some standout points from the podcast:
Regarding his desire for a title shift: “My personal preference is for Drew to secure the championship. While it seems premature to curtail Damian Priest’s reign, he’s already made a significant mark, similar to our [The Hardys] initial triumph with the World Tag Team Titles. This win propelled us into the limelight, and it’s done the same for him. His more lengthy reign can be scheduled for a later time, but currently, Drew is in fantastic form and is excelling in every possible aspect. I would personally prefer to see Drew McIntyre clinch the title, not because of our friendship, but because I genuinely believe it’s in the best business interest.”
Discussing the potential of a defeat not damaging Priest: “Not at all. Especially after you have established yourself as a world champion, factor in Damian Priest’s tremendous victory, that’s a significant accomplishment. This achievement is something he can always display on his CV. It is a permanent record. Now, he can persist in accruing credibility and value in his persona. I believe when Damian Priest is equipped for another world title victory, he will be a much more pivotal figure. He will have built up considerable value within himself as he will continue to evolve from this moment, using it as a launching pad for his career. Right now, Damian Priest is a figure who has benefited from winning the world title. The next time he seizes the world title, he will be such a talented, popular and solidified performer with so much support, that he will be the one elevating the stature of the world title.”
