The match between Chessman and Adrian Marcelo at AAA TripleMania XXXI: Monterrey on Sunday, April 16, is uncertain due to a failed wrestling exam and sexual assault allegations against Marcelo.
According to a report by Lucha Blog, Marcelo quit during drills and walked off following the first hour of a test that was scheduled for three hours, and having failed the test, he will be unable to compete at AAA TripleMania XXXI. The city’s lucha libre commission held the wrestling licensing exam on Wednesday.
Marcelo appeared later that night on a television show to promote AAA TripleMania XXXI and declared himself for the event, but did not mention anything about competing.
In addition to the failed wrestling exam, Marcelo has also been accused of sexual assault by a woman named Carolina Lerma on social media.
According to Lerma, the alleged incident dates back to February 2022 when Marcelo became aggressive with her after she rejected his advances in a car. He then attempted to force himself on her before she managed to escape.
Prosecutors in Nuevo Leon have launched an investigation into the matter. Marcelo has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
The entire situation with regard to Marcelo is further complicated by the fact that other wrestlers associated with AAA have also faced legal trouble stemming from serious accusations, such as Alberto El Patron‘s previous charges of sexual assault and El Cuatrero‘s recent arrest for domestic violence.
As of now, it is unclear whether the match between Chessman and Marcelo will happen at TripleMania XXXI. Marcelo works for Multimedios, and the TV company will likely make the final call on whether he will work the April 16th event.
