A Comparison of Deonna Purrazzo’s Experiences in TNA and AEW

While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Deonna Purrazzo talked about the difference between her runs in TNA and AEW.

In January 2024, she signed with AEW after a successful run in TNA. She said,

“I think I was able to come into IMPACT and it was still the pandemic, so there wasn’t’ fans. It very much lent towards forgiveness in terms of if I didn’t like something that happened in the ring or I didn’t like the way I sounded, it was very easy to ask to stop and ask to redo it. Although I didn’t do it often, that possibility was there. We did a lot more in IMPACT—now TNA—with social media and things like that, that I was able to have a little bit of grace while I was growing into the role that they were giving me. Now, fast forward, I’m thrust into this environment. I’m adjusting to all of the things that come with it and then there is so many more eyes on me on a weekly basis. The thing with IMPACT was a lot of people didn’t know where to watch it. A lot of people didn’t know how to watch it. Here we are on a national cable network every single week, no matter what show I’m on. There’s so many more eyes on me. Which means there’s so much more chatter about me, whether it’s positive or negative. So I just feel a ton more pressure to constantly go out there and put my best foot forward to warrant the position that I’ve been given because I understand I’m very lucky for that.”

Professional wrestler Deonna Purrazzo recently discussed the difference between her time in TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) and her current run in AEW (All Elite Wrestling). Purrazzo, who signed with AEW in January 2024 after a successful stint in TNA, highlighted the contrasting environments and pressures she faces in each promotion.

During her time in TNA, Purrazzo noted that the COVID-19 pandemic had limited the presence of live fans at events. This allowed her more flexibility and forgiveness when it came to her in-ring performances. If she didn’t like something or felt the need to redo a segment, she had the opportunity to do so. Additionally, she mentioned that TNA’s social media presence provided her with some leeway as she grew into her role.

However, in AEW, Purrazzo finds herself in a different situation. With a larger platform and a national cable network broadcasting their shows, she now performs in front of a significantly larger audience on a weekly basis. This increased exposure brings with it more scrutiny and discussion surrounding her performances, both positive and negative.

Purrazzo acknowledged the pressure she feels to constantly deliver her best in order to justify the position she has been given. She understands the privilege of being in such a prominent role and recognizes the need to consistently impress both fans and critics alike.

One of the key differences between TNA and AEW that Purrazzo highlighted was the accessibility of the promotions. While TNA faced challenges with viewership and awareness, AEW’s national cable network presence ensures that more people have access to their shows. This increased exposure adds to the pressure Purrazzo feels to perform at her best every time she steps into the ring.

Despite the added pressure, Purrazzo remains grateful for the opportunities she has been given. She understands that not everyone gets the chance to showcase their skills on such a large stage and is determined to make the most of it. By constantly striving to improve and impress, Purrazzo aims to warrant the position she has earned in AEW.

In conclusion, Deonna Purrazzo’s transition from TNA to AEW has brought about new challenges and pressures. While TNA provided her with more forgiving circumstances, AEW’s larger platform and increased exposure demand consistent excellence. Purrazzo recognizes the privilege of her position and is determined to meet the expectations placed upon her. As she continues to adapt and grow in AEW, fans can expect to see her give her all in every performance.
