Becky Lynch Reveals Challenges Faced in Writing About WWE in Her New Memoir

Becky Lynch struggled to put her WWE career and journey into words for her recently-released memoir ‘The Man: Not Your Average, Average Girl.’

Lynch’s new autobiography follows The Man’s life from her falling in love with professional wrestling to becoming one of the biggest WWE Superstars in the world.

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Lynch said that she had to take a cautious approach when writing about her fellow names in WWE. She said,

“Anything with WWE I thought needed to be handled with great care. Because I don’t think you can absent-mindedly write about people that are in the public eye. You have to have a good representation of them and an accurate representation of them. And so I wanted to detail everything very honestly, very factually, without letting my bias come into play. Like when was I the a**hole? I need to own that. Let me try and see the other person’s point of view, because these people are in the public eye and you want to represent them in the way that is most honest.”

Lynch added that she received advice from Mick Foley, who has several memoirs to his name, to not use her new book as a tool for revenge. She said,

“Here’s another thing that Mick Foley told me, never use a book to get back at anybody. Like, never use it as a revenge tool, they don’t have the chance to defend themselves. And I took that as I’m going to be the hero of my own story, right? If you’re reading this, I’m likely painting myself as the hero of my story. It’s not fair for me to paint anybody as a villain.”

Lynch recently competed at WrestleMania 40 (Night One), where she failed to dethrone Rhea Ripley as Women’s World Champion. The title has since been vacated due to Ripley’s injury.

Becky Lynch, one of the biggest WWE Superstars in the world, has recently released her memoir titled ‘The Man: Not Your Average, Average Girl.’ The autobiography chronicles Lynch’s journey from falling in love with professional wrestling to achieving success in the WWE.

In a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast, Lynch revealed that she approached writing about her fellow WWE colleagues with caution. She believed that discussing individuals in the public eye required careful handling to ensure an accurate representation. Lynch aimed to detail everything honestly and factually, without letting her personal bias influence the narrative. She acknowledged her own flaws and sought to understand others’ perspectives, emphasizing the importance of representing them in an honest manner.

Lynch also shared advice she received from Mick Foley, a renowned WWE wrestler and author of several memoirs. Foley advised her against using the book as a means of seeking revenge. He emphasized that it was unfair to paint anyone as a villain without giving them a chance to defend themselves.
