Seth Rollins has admitted that he regrets his visceral reaction to CM Punk’s return to WWE which took place last November at Survivor Series: WarGames.
During Punk’s return, an irate Rollins could be seen shouting at the ex-AEW wrestler and had to be held back by those around him.
At a panel at “WWE World,” Rollins addressed his response to Punk’s return which he feels fell below his standards of professionalism. He said,
“I don’t think I’ve ever been more unprofessional in my entire life than when CM Punk came back at Survivor Series. I was not feeling good. It’s the same thing with The Rock. It was the same thing with Cody Rhodes.
“I love WWE. We’re all family. I’m talking about everybody in the back, everybody that I’ve shared a ring with, everybody in production, creative, all the way from Triple H to every single person out here. We’re all family. We’re all in this together and when you have family, you protect your family. You protect your family from outsiders who have only self interest in mind.”
“I know for some of you guys, CM Punk is like that dude for you, right? He’s like your hero, he’s your martyr, but CM Punk left this place a decade ago and every single day that he was gone, he tried to actively tear apart WWE. For me, that was like taking shots at my family. I protect my family and I stand up for my people. So when I see CM Punk out there actively taking shots to try to tear me down, tear my house down, tear my family apart, I got no time for that.
“What you saw at Survivor Series in real time was me experiencing a traitor coming into my house and trying to tear it apart and how I felt about that. It was just raw and as real as I’ve ever been. I guess that probably is as unprofessional as I’ve ever been as well, but it is what is it is. I don’t like CM Punk and I never will.”
Rollins’ issues with Punk were supposed to lead into a World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 40 which was nixed due to Punk’s torn triceps injury.
Instead, Rollins will defend at WrestleMania 40 (Night Two) against Drew McIntyre. CM Punk will be on commentary for the upcoming title match.
Seth Rollins Reflects on His Reaction to CM Punk’s Return at Survivor Series: WarGames
Last November, the wrestling world was abuzz with excitement when CM Punk made his long-awaited return to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames. However, one wrestler’s reaction stood out among the rest – Seth Rollins. Rollins, known for his passionate demeanor, was seen shouting at Punk and had to be restrained by those around him. Now, Rollins has admitted that he regrets his visceral reaction and acknowledges that it fell below his standards of professionalism.
Speaking at a panel at “WWE World,” Rollins addressed his response to Punk’s return and expressed his remorse. He admitted, “I don’t think I’ve ever been more unprofessional in my entire life than when CM Punk came back at Survivor Series. I was not feeling good. It’s the same thing with The Rock. It was the same thing with Cody Rhodes.”
Rollins went on to emphasize his love for WWE and the sense of family that exists within the organization. He stated, “We’re all family. I’m talking about everybody in the back, everybody that I’ve shared a ring with, everybody in production, creative, all the way from Triple H to every single person out here. We’re all family. We’re all in this together, and when you have family, you protect your family. You protect your family from outsiders who have only self-interest in mind.”
The wrestler further explained his strong reaction by highlighting CM Punk’s history with WWE. Punk had left the company a decade ago and during his absence, he actively criticized and tried to tear apart WWE. For Rollins, this was akin to someone attacking his family. He stated, “I protect my family and I stand up for my people. So when I see CM Punk out there actively taking shots to try to tear me down, tear my house down, tear my family apart, I got no time for that.”
Rollins acknowledged that his behavior at Survivor Series was raw and unprofessional but maintained that it was a genuine reflection of his feelings. He admitted, “It was just raw and as real as I’ve ever been. I guess that probably is as unprofessional as I’ve ever been as well, but it is what it is. I don’t like CM Punk and I never will.”
Interestingly, Rollins’ issues with Punk were supposed to lead to a World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 40. However, Punk’s torn triceps injury derailed those plans. Instead, Rollins will defend his title against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 40 (Night Two), with CM Punk serving as a commentator for the highly anticipated match.
In conclusion, Seth Rollins has openly expressed regret for his unprofessional reaction to CM Punk’s return at Survivor Series: WarGames. While his emotions got the better of him, Rollins emphasized his loyalty to WWE and his determination to protect his wrestling family. As WrestleMania 40 approaches, fans eagerly await the clash between Rollins and McIntyre, with CM Punk adding his unique perspective from the commentary booth.
