Cody Rhodes may be WWE’s top babyface right now, but Kevin Sullivan believes a heel turn would be ideal for the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble winner.
On a recent edition of his “Tuesdays With The Taskmaster” podcast, Sullivan argued that WWE has the chance to do something big with a heel turn. He said,
“He has used Dusty’s trial and tribulations trying to grab the brass ring, that he’s doing this for his father, and it really got the people behind him. And that’s why… when he actually turns heel after he wins this belt, he’ll have nothing but white heat.”
Sullivan went even further and predicted that Roman Reigns will also be making a dramatic shift in the heel/face dynamic by the time of WrestleMania 41 in 2025.
Reigns and Rhodes will be on opposing sides of a tag team match at WrestleMania 40 (Night One) and will face off in singles competition in the main event of WrestleMania 40 (Night Two).
In the world of professional wrestling, the dynamics between babyfaces (heroes) and heels (villains) play a crucial role in captivating audiences and creating compelling storylines. One wrestler who has been receiving significant attention as a top babyface is Cody Rhodes, but according to wrestling veteran Kevin Sullivan, a heel turn would be ideal for him.
During a recent episode of his podcast, “Tuesdays With The Taskmaster,” Sullivan expressed his belief that WWE has a golden opportunity to do something big with Rhodes by turning him into a villain. Sullivan pointed out that Rhodes has been using his father Dusty’s struggles and aspirations to connect with the audience, which has garnered immense support for him. However, Sullivan argues that this sets the stage perfectly for a shocking heel turn.
“He has used Dusty’s trial and tribulations trying to grab the brass ring, that he’s doing this for his father, and it really got the people behind him. And that’s why… when he actually turns heel after he wins this belt, he’ll have nothing but white heat,” Sullivan explained.
Sullivan’s prediction doesn’t stop there. He also believes that another prominent WWE superstar, Roman Reigns, will undergo a dramatic shift in the heel/face dynamic by the time WrestleMania 41 rolls around in 2025. This suggests that both Rhodes and Reigns will be embarking on new paths in their wrestling careers, potentially leading to captivating storylines and exciting matches.
In fact, the two wrestlers will already be on opposing sides of a tag team match at WrestleMania 40 (Night One). This clash will undoubtedly set the stage for their highly anticipated singles competition in the main event of WrestleMania 40 (Night Two). The prospect of these two talented performers going head-to-head in a high-stakes match is sure to generate immense interest among wrestling fans.
While it remains to be seen whether WWE will heed Sullivan’s advice and turn Cody Rhodes into a heel, the idea certainly presents an intriguing possibility. A successful heel turn for Rhodes could elevate his character to new heights and create fresh storylines that captivate audiences. Similarly, a potential heel turn for Roman Reigns could breathe new life into his character and provide fans with a fresh perspective on his in-ring abilities.
As wrestling fans eagerly await the unfolding of these events, it is clear that the world of professional wrestling is constantly evolving. The dynamics between babyfaces and heels play a crucial role in shaping the narratives and keeping fans engaged. Whether Cody Rhodes embraces his dark side or Roman Reigns undergoes a dramatic transformation, one thing is certain – the future of WWE promises excitement, surprises, and unforgettable moments in the ring.
