Insights from Mark Henry on the WWE-AEW Collaboration and Kenny Omega’s Discussion on Will Ospreay

On a recent of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry suggested that WWE and AEW should work together, especially if it allows Dustin Rhodes to appear at WrestleMania 40.

Dustin is signed to AEW but is a big part of the “story” his brother Cody aims to finish by dethroning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Henry said,Well, we definitely needed to see it. And as far as there being an opportunity for a working relationship, which Triple H said a year and change ago, that they’re open for a working relationship with AEW. It’s yet to be seen, but they were open for it. This is the time, if you ever were going to do it, try to get it done, you’ve got four weeks.”

During his latest Twitch livestream, Kenny Omega stated that he wasn’t sure about a third match with Will Ospreay, which would complete the trilogy.

Omega and Ospreay fought at NJPW ‘Wrestle Kingdom’ last year, which Omega won. Ospreay later evened the score by defeating Omega at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II.

Omega said, Will I complete the trilogy with Ospreay? I don’t know. I don’t know if it needs to be a trilogy. I just kind of go where I’m needed. Where the story takes me. Let’s say in a perfect world I am 100% or I can get myself to a degree where I can compete with these guys again. I think that Ospreay, it’s still fresh in my mind, but I haven’t wrestled Joe in close to 20 years, maybe a little less. There are a couple of other folks I need to get around to. I’ve never wrestled Swerve in a singles match. We had a couple of interactions in the UK, but never a singles. I could bring up two or three guys. We have such a huge roster.”

In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry suggested that WWE and AEW should consider working together, particularly if it means allowing AEW wrestler Dustin Rhodes to appear at WrestleMania 40. This proposal comes as Dustin, who is signed to AEW, plays a significant role in the ongoing storyline involving his brother Cody Rhodes aiming to dethrone Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Henry expressed his belief that it would be beneficial for both companies to explore a working relationship. He mentioned that Triple H, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development, had previously stated that WWE was open to collaborating with AEW. However, such a partnership has yet to materialize. Henry emphasized that now would be the opportune time to make it happen, with only four weeks remaining until WrestleMania 40.

Meanwhile, during a recent Twitch livestream, AEW wrestler Kenny Omega shared his uncertainty about having a third match with Will Ospreay, which would complete their trilogy. Omega and Ospreay previously faced off at NJPW’s ‘Wrestle Kingdom’ event last year, with Omega emerging as the victor. However, Ospreay later evened the score by defeating Omega at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II.

When asked about the possibility of completing the trilogy with Ospreay, Omega expressed his indecision. He explained that he prefers to go where he is needed and follow the direction of the ongoing storylines. While he acknowledged that the match with Ospreay is still fresh in his mind, Omega also mentioned that he hasn’t wrestled another competitor, Joe, in nearly 20 years. Additionally, there are a few other wrestlers, such as Swerve, whom he has never faced in a singles match. Omega highlighted the depth of talent in both AEW and NJPW, indicating that there are several potential opponents he would like to wrestle in the future.

These comments from Mark Henry and Kenny Omega shed light on the potential for collaboration between WWE and AEW, as well as the creative decisions made by wrestlers regarding their matches and storylines. While fans eagerly await the outcome of these discussions and the future direction of both promotions, it remains to be seen whether WWE and AEW will indeed work together and if Omega will eventually complete his trilogy with Ospreay.
