CM Punk suffered a triceps tear at last month’s WWE Royal Rumble 2024 pay-per-view event. The injury has shelved Punk for six to nine months.
During an interview at UFC 298, Punk shared an update on his return timetable. He said,
“You know, fingers crossed, yeah, I was going to headline WrestleMania. Obviously, now I’m not. But, you know, it’s sports. It’s what happens to athletes. Mentally, I think it’s harder because the physical pain is whatever. But I look at it just like a bump in the road. This is an occupational hazard. It happens and I’ll be back bigger and better.”
He continued, “I’m a clumsy idiot. I tore my left triceps about two years ago, so the right one was jealous. I’m like an old cobbler. car. I’m like a 72 Nova, you know what I mean? We have to change some parts every now and again. So once we fix up all the parts, the engine’s still strong, we’ll still be good to go. We’re thinking maybe six to eight months, but I’m not really in a rush to get back to compete. I’m in a rush to get healthy. I’m in a rush to get better. The sooner I do that, the better I’ll be when I come back.”
Punk was supposed to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, his unfortunate injury ruled him out of the flagship event, forcing WWE to change plans on the Road To WrestleMania.
“My heart goes out to Alexander Volkanovski, to me he’s still a champion”

CM Punk, the renowned professional wrestler and former UFC fighter, recently suffered a triceps tear at the WWE Royal Rumble 2024 pay-per-view event. This unfortunate injury has forced him to take a hiatus from the wrestling ring for a period of six to nine months.
In a recent interview at UFC 298, CM Punk provided an update on his return timetable. Despite the setback, he remained optimistic and determined to make a comeback. He expressed his disappointment at not being able to headline WrestleMania, stating that it is a common occurrence in the world of sports. Punk acknowledged that while the physical pain is manageable, the mental aspect of dealing with the injury is more challenging. Nevertheless, he sees it as a mere bump in the road and an occupational hazard that athletes often face.
CM Punk humorously referred to himself as a clumsy idiot, explaining that he had previously torn his left triceps two years ago, and now his right triceps was jealous. Comparing himself to an old car, he emphasized the need to replace certain parts from time to time. However, he reassured fans that once all the necessary repairs are made, he will be back stronger than ever. While the estimated recovery time is six to eight months, Punk emphasized that his priority is not rushing back to compete but rather focusing on his health and overall improvement. He believes that taking the time to fully recover will ultimately benefit him when he returns to the ring.
The injury has had significant implications for WWE’s plans leading up to WrestleMania 40. CM Punk was originally scheduled to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the flagship event. However, with his absence, WWE has been forced to alter their plans and adapt on the Road To WrestleMania.
Despite this setback, CM Punk remains determined and focused on making a successful comeback. His positive attitude and dedication to his health and well-being are commendable. Wrestling fans eagerly await his return to the ring, where he will undoubtedly bring his signature intensity and passion.
