Damien Sandow Reflects on His WWE Career and Stands by His Choices

Damien Sandow’s WWE career may not have reached the heights some had hoped for, but the ex-Superstar is fine with how things went.

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Sandow addressed the belief among some that his career could have gone much further. He said,

“People say, ‘Like you should politick more.’ I never wanted to because — and that may have been my own ego to be like look, I try to be a decent human being, don’t do anything that’s going to embarrass the company, show up to work and let that speak for itself.”

He continued, “People say my career should have been this, it should have been that, everyone has their take on whatever. At the end of the day, my career was what it was, I made the choices I made and I stand by them. I’m fortunate enough to where I have developed this skill set that if I want a job in pro wrestling I can get one.”

Sandow won the 2013 SmackDown Money in the Bank ladder match but failed in his cash-in attempt on John Cena.

Sandow was the first Superstar to be beaten clean in their cash-in attempt as Cena’s cash-in the prior year ended in a DQ.

Damien Sandow Reflects on His WWE Career and Embraces the Choices He Made

Damien Sandow, a former WWE Superstar, recently opened up about his career in a candid interview on the “Insight” podcast. Sandow addressed the perception that his career could have achieved greater success, but he expressed contentment with the choices he made and the path his career took.

Sandow revealed that he never engaged in backstage politics or tried to manipulate his way to the top. Instead, he believed in being a decent human being and letting his work speak for itself. Sandow’s approach was to show up to work, give his best performance, and avoid doing anything that would embarrass the company.

While some may argue that Sandow’s career should have been more successful, he stands by the choices he made. He acknowledges that everyone has their own opinions and expectations, but ultimately, he is satisfied with the way his career unfolded. Sandow emphasized that he developed a valuable skill set throughout his time in the WWE, which allows him to secure job opportunities in the professional wrestling industry if he desires.

One notable achievement in Sandow’s career was winning the 2013 SmackDown Money in the Bank ladder match. This victory granted him the opportunity to cash in his contract for a championship match. Unfortunately, Sandow’s cash-in attempt on John Cena was unsuccessful, making him the first Superstar to be defeated cleanly in such an endeavor. Cena’s own cash-in attempt the previous year had ended in a disqualification.

Despite this setback, Sandow’s positive outlook on his career remains intact. He recognizes that success in the wrestling industry is not solely determined by championship wins or high-profile storylines. Sandow’s journey allowed him to grow as a performer and develop a unique skill set that continues to open doors for him in the world of professional wrestling.

Sandow’s story serves as a reminder that success is subjective and that personal fulfillment should not be solely defined by external achievements. His commitment to being a decent human being and letting his work speak for itself is a testament to his character and integrity.

As fans reflect on Damien Sandow’s WWE career, they can appreciate the choices he made and the path he took. Sandow’s story is a reminder that sometimes the most important victories are the ones that occur within oneself.
