WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff is all for Cody Rhodes ‘finishing the story’ by dethroning Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40.
At last year’s WrestleMania 39 pay-per-view event, Cody failed to defeat Reigns in a heartbreaking loss for the American Nightmare, and a call by WWE that left many fans unsatisfied.
On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff shared why he feels Rhodes is the perfect choice as the next Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. He said,
“I want it to be Cody so bad because I need that breath of fresh air and that shot of sunlight. I need a great ending to a great story, something that makes me feel good about being a wrestling fan. And Cody’s story should make everybody feel good about being a wrestling fan if he’s able to overcome Roman. What Cody has gone through physically, emotionally, mentally, a roller coaster ride.”
He continued, “And then he comes back and he blows his pec out and goes to work, focused never lost sight, never let anybody see him do anything but smile and represent WWE in the best way possible. I don’t think anybody could have done a better job representing WWE as a talent than Cody Rhodes did.”
Up until recently, Rhodes-Reigns 2 seemed destined for WrestleMania 40, but plans may have changed due to CM Punk’s injury.
On this week’s episode of WWE RAW, Seth Rollins, Punk’s planned WrestleMania 40 opponent, encouraged Rhodes to challenge him instead. Rhodes told Rollins that he’ll think about it.
