Insider Insights: Behind-the-Scenes Scoop on WWE RAW & SmackDown Segments After Kevin Dunn’s Departure
– ADVERTISMENT –

Kevin Dunn’s departure from WWE has led to new production elements being used in promos on RAW and SmackDown.

Last week’s episodes of the main roster shows featured segments with different styles than WWE has generally used in the past years. For instance, Chelsea Green & Piper Niven’s confrontation with Kayden Carter and Katana Chance at a club on RAW as well as Butch and Tyler Bate’s meeting at a coffee shop on SmackDown were prime examples of the new production style WWE is gradually adopting.

Fightful Select is reporting that the segments, which had more of an element used in NXT, are the result of changes made since Dunn quit WWE. Both segments were generally well-received by the higher-ups in WWE.

Triple H had Jeremy Borash assemble a team in NXT for the past few years away from Dunn’s purview. The Game is reportedly pleased with how those elements played out and with Dunn now gone, there are plenty of opportunities to use them more on the main roster shows.

Several people who have worked on the segments have been very optimistic about the new process and having the freedom to do them.

One source noted that with Dunn in charge, the segment would have most likely cut away to several different things. Instead, the new production method allows the characters to breathe more.

Kevin Dunn, the longtime producer and director of WWE, has recently left the company, and his departure has resulted in some noticeable changes in the production elements used in promos on RAW and SmackDown. Last week’s episodes of these main roster shows featured segments with a different style than what WWE has typically used in recent years. This shift in production style is gradually being adopted by WWE and has been well-received by the higher-ups in the company.

One example of this new production style was seen in a segment on RAW where Chelsea Green and Piper Niven confronted Kayden Carter and Katana Chance at a club. Similarly, on SmackDown, Butch and Tyler Bate had a meeting at a coffee shop. These segments showcased a different approach to storytelling and presentation, reminiscent of the style often seen in WWE’s developmental brand, NXT.

According to reports from Fightful Select, these segments are a result of changes made since Dunn’s departure. Triple H, who oversees NXT, had Jeremy Borash assemble a team away from Dunn’s influence for the past few years. The Game was reportedly pleased with how these elements played out in NXT and now sees an opportunity to incorporate them more on the main roster shows with Dunn no longer in charge.

Those involved in working on these segments have expressed optimism about the new process and the freedom it provides. Under Dunn’s leadership, the segments would often cut away to different things, but the new production method allows the characters to breathe more and allows for a more immersive experience for the viewers.

This shift in production style opens up exciting possibilities for WWE’s future storytelling and presentation. With the freedom to explore new approaches, WWE can create more engaging and immersive content for its audience. Fans can look forward to seeing how these changes continue to unfold on RAW and SmackDown.
