It is time for another week of the Ultimate Power Rankings from both WWE and AEW. Who improved their stock from last week and who downgraded their position among the rest?
This set ranges from Monday (January 8) and to Sunday (January 14). This means that all the results and highlights from this week’s Raw, NXT, AEW Dynamite, SmackDown, AEW Rampage, AEW Collision, and AEW’s Battle of the Belts special will all play a factor in the rankings.
If a wrestler has a (+) next to their name, then that means that they moved up the rankings from last week’s edition. When there is a (-) next to their name, then that means that they moved down from the rankings from last week. If there is nothing next to their name, then that means that they stayed at the same spot.
Without further ado, let’s get into this week’s Power Rankings for WWE and AEW!
WWE TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Awesome Truth (NR)
R-Truth is comedy gold. His “ally ship” with The Judgment Day has been one of the funnest stories told in quite some time. Not to mention, his partner, The Miz, continues to pick up wins over the group, as The Miz prevailed over JD McDonagh. The duo will get their hands on the Undisputed Tag Team Champions, Damian Priest and Finn Balor, next week.
9. The Judgment Day (-5)
Tough week for The Judgment Day. Balor fell to Tommaso Ciampa and McDonagh continued his struggles against the reunited Awesome Truth by losing to The Miz. The Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley confronted Nia Jax on Raw, teasing a potential showdown between the two powerhouses.
8. Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker (NR)
Corbin and Breakker kicked off the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with a bang by beating Gallus in the first round. The team showed great chemistry and despite being newly-formed, Corbin and Breakker seem to be a top candidate to win the Dusty Cup.
7. CM Punk and Drew McIntyre (NR)
I’m lumping these two together for this week because their promo segment on Raw this past week was must-see. It was very well-done, with both putting out great material. It wouldn’t be a shock to anyone if these two were the last competitors remaining in the Royal Rumble match.
6. Nia Jax
Jax called out Ripley, a week after getting one over Becky Lynch. Jax remains a linchpin in the Raw women’s division and is sure to do some damage at the Royal Rumble later this month.
5. Kevin Owens (-2)
Owens wasn’t seen live on SmackDown, although he did appear in a pre-taped video in response to Logan Paul’s comments about suing him. Owens and the United States Champion will appear next week on SmackDown for the “Kevin Owens Show.”
4. Damage CTRL (-2)
Bayley suffered another loss in her quest to prove she has what it takes to bring all the gold for Damage CTRL, falling short against her forever rival Bianca Belair. Not only that, but there seems to be some tension forming within the group, as Bayley continues to rise amongst the rest of the division as the favorite to win the Royal Rumble.
3. Cody Rhodes (NR)
Rhodes stopped Shinsuke Nakamura in his tracks on Raw by beating the dangerous Nakamura in a Street Fight. Despite constantly winning and being a consistent main event player, it’s unclear what Rhodes will be doing for WrestleMania, considering the fact that The Rock is back in the picture.
2. Oba Femi (+7)
Talk about shocks! The NXT Breakout Tournament Winner waisted no time in using his title contract to good use. After the NXT North American Champion, Dragon Lee, retained over Lexis King, Femi cashed-in his title match against Lee right then and there, ultimately winning and becoming the first signing from the NIL class to be champion. A star may have been born in the developmental ranks, as not only does Femi have the look of a star, but the 22-year old can go reasonably well in the ring.
1. Seth Rollins
The World Heavyweight Champion pondered who his next challenger would be for his title. Lo and behold, Jinder Mahal made his way down to the ring and made his presence known. Now, after twitter beefs going past tribal lines of WWE and AEW, this title match between Rollins and Mahal could be far more interesting that would it was originally looking like when previously announced.
AEW TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Hook (NR)
Hook easily beat a big man wrestler on Collision this week, in preparation to be Joe’s first challenger for his AEW World Championship. He will get that match this upcoming week on Dynamite.
9. The Undisputed Kingdom (-5)
The Undisputed Kingdom once again explained their actions, with Roderick Strong getting the bulk of the notoriety this week, not only beating Bryan Keith on Dynamite, but also calling out Orange Cassidy for the AEW International Championship. It seems as though Strong may be next up in the group to win gold.
8. Ricky Starks and Big Bill (NR)
The AEW Tag Team Champions survived a Street Fight tag team match against Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara at Battle of the Belts.
7. Adam Copeland (NR)
Copeland continues his recent string of open challenges against young upstarts, this time beating Lee Moriarty on Collision. Copeland also racked up another victory this week on Dynamite in an eight-man tag team match.
6. Eddie Kingston (-3)
The Continental Crown Champ checked off another successful title defense this week, winning over the ROH Pure Champion William Yuta on Rampage.
5. House of Black (+5)
House of Black not only main evented Collision once again, but stole the show (and week) in wrestling, as they defeated FTR and Daniel Garcia in what was a great trios clash between all talented workers.
4. “Hangman” Adam Page (NR)
Page is on the hunt for the AEW World Championship and is as determined (and angry) as ever. He confronted the World Champ Joe and his known rival Swerve Strickland on Dynamite. A triple threat match or another hardcore style bout with Strickland may very well be in the works. Not to mention, Page appeared everywhere all week, not only winning against Claudio Castagnoli in a fun opening contest on Dynamite, but picking up another dub on Saturday night at Collision.
3. Darby Allin and Sting (+4)
Allin and Sting was physical enough to just beat Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita in a Texas Tornado Match. The longtime pairing were then interrupted by The Young Bucks, implying that it will be The Bucks vs. Sting and Allin, in what will be Sting’s final match at AEW Revolution.
2. Swerve Strickland (-1)
Strickland continued his story with Joe and Page, as the immensely over star continues to show that he may very well be the next guy to become World Champion.
1. Samoa Joe (+1)
Not only does Joe have many challengers lined up, but Joe’s promo on Dynamite proved once again that Joe is one of the best to do it. His delivery was strong, yet simple… but so impactful in showing his legitamacy and seriousness that he is being treated as champion. Joe’s first title defense is set for this week’s Dynamite against Hook.
