Lex Luger believes that Cody Rhodes deserves to be WWE’s top guy and dethrone Roman Reigns, but isn’t sure WWE will say no to The Rock.
Up until recently, it seemed guaranteed that Rhodes would dethrone Reigns at WrestleMania 40, a year on from his heart wrenching loss to the Tribal Chief last year.
That was until The Rock returned on the ‘Day 1′ edition of RAW and teased coming for Reigns’ spot as the Head of the Table.
On a recent edition of his “Lex Expressed” podcast, Luger shared his take on WWE’s current main event dilemma. He said,
“Cody, I think he’s so deserving of getting that shot again. Maybe I am biased. I love Cody. I really love his work. I love everything about him. I think he’d be a great babyface Champion that could carry them for many years. Then again, with TKO now involved in the decision-making process, can you turn down The Rock?”
Luger also addressed The Rock’s age and believes that the Brahma Bull’s star power would mean WWE gives him what he wants, even at the expense of Rhodes. He said,
“Depending on what he wants to do, if he wants to do one and get back in the ring because he’s not a spring chicken anymore. he’s past 50 now, right? He doesn’t have to wrestle anymore if he doesn’t want to. So, to get in shape, risk an injury, and do a bell-to-bell match when he hasn’t done that in such a long time. it’s a big deal for a guy like that. I know he likes everything to be tip-top. He’ll want to be in tip-top shape. So, if he wants to do it, I can’t see them saying no. It’s in his hands.”
Rhodes will be part of the Men’s Royal Rumble match later this month. At that event, Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal title in a fatal four-way.

In the world of professional wrestling, the battle for the top spot is always fierce. Fans and experts alike have their opinions on who deserves to be the face of the industry, and the latest debate revolves around Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Wrestling legend Lex Luger recently shared his thoughts on the matter, expressing his belief that Rhodes deserves to dethrone Reigns as WWE’s top guy. However, Luger also acknowledged the possibility that WWE might not be able to say no to another wrestling icon, The Rock.
For many fans, it seemed like a sure thing that Rhodes would have his redemption and defeat Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Last year, Rhodes suffered a heartbreaking loss to Reigns, and a victory at WrestleMania would have been a fitting conclusion to their rivalry. However, everything changed when The Rock made a surprise return on the ‘Day 1’ edition of RAW and hinted at challenging Reigns for his spot as the Head of the Table.
Luger, speaking on his “Lex Expressed” podcast, shared his perspective on the current main event dilemma in WWE. He expressed his admiration for Cody Rhodes and his belief that Rhodes would make an excellent babyface champion who could carry the company for years to come. Luger’s bias towards Rhodes might stem from his personal fondness for him and his work. However, Luger also acknowledged the influence of Tony Khan (TKO), who is now involved in the decision-making process at AEW. Luger questioned whether WWE could turn down The Rock if he expressed a desire to return to the ring.
The Rock’s age is a factor that Luger considered in his analysis. At over 50 years old, The Rock is no longer a young competitor. He has achieved tremendous success outside of wrestling and doesn’t necessarily need to step back into the ring. Luger believes that The Rock’s star power and influence would make it difficult for WWE to refuse his request, even if it meant sidelining Rhodes. The Rock’s commitment to excellence and his desire to be in peak physical shape would also play a role in his decision. If The Rock decides to return to the ring, Luger believes it would be hard for WWE to deny him that opportunity.
In the meantime, Rhodes will have a chance to showcase his skills in the Men’s Royal Rumble match later this month. Reigns, on the other hand, will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal title in a fatal four-way match at the same event. The outcome of these matches could potentially shape the path towards WrestleMania 40 and determine who will ultimately face Reigns for the top spot.
