Samoa Joe defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship at Saturday night’s AEW Worlds End 2023 pay-per-view event.
Fightful Select is reporting that AEW is creating a new World Title belt for the company in light of Joe indicating during the post-show media scrum that he would be getting a redesigned World Title.
Since winning the AEW World Championship at Full Gear 2022, MJF had been carrying around a customized belt with a Burberry leather strap.
According to Joe, MJF’s version of the AEW World Title “is going in the garbage,” and he also referred to it as a “little knockoff of BS Gucci stuff.”
Joe said his new, redesigned title would be “the good belt, the right belt, something that’s designed well.”
AEW has reportedly taken the necessary measures to make some crucial alterations to the World Title.
As we previously reported here on eWn, AEW President Tony Khan awarded the Clemson Tigers college football team with a custom AEW replica title following the team’s victory in the TaxSlayer Bowl, which featured custom side plates.
According to the report, the new AEW World Championship, at the very least, will feature custom side plates. Moreover, AEW had custom side plates made for the Kentucky Wildcats if they had won the NCAA game.
It’s possible that the new AEW World Title would feature an alternate version of the AEW logo on the main, center, and side plates, with a black background for the company’s logo.
