A24’s The Iron Claw may be a gripping retelling of the lives and tragedies of the Von Erich family, but the film has fallen short of expectations.
According to the “Wrestling Observer Daily Update” the film didn’t perform as well as many had expected in its opening weekend.
”The Iron Claw was No. 6 at the box office for the weekend and will do an estimated $5.06 million in 2,774 theaters in week one. I don’t think anyone expected this to do big numbers at the theaters. I saw it at a theater Friday night in Santa Barbara and aside from a large family, we were the only ones in the theater and there were no wrestling fans there.”
The Iron Claw sees Zac Efron star as Kevin Von Erich while Jeremy Allen White portrays Kerry Von Erich. AEW’s MJF has a cameo role as fake relation Lance Von Erich.
