While it was supposed to be Finn Balor vs. Johnny Gargano, Matt Riddle still put on one heck of a battle against the Irishman.

This was Balor’s televised in-ring debut since returning to NXT. Riddle looked to upset the former NXT and WWE Universal Champion, and used his chain grappling to put Balor in trouble early on. However, Balor wasn’t about to go out without a fight and battled back into the bout after damaging Riddle’s midsection. It looked to be over after Riddle hit a spear and jackhammer, but his opponent managed to kick out.

The end finally came after Balor escaped the Bromission and landed the 1960 DDT on Riddle. As announcer Mauro Ranallo said post-match, “The Prince is back!”
