On a recent edition of his “Six Feet Under” podcast, The Undertaker discussed CM Punk losing grappling contests to Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin on a flight in 2006.
The WWE crew was headed to Camp Victory in Baghdad for a Tribute to the Troops special program that year.
The Undertaker said, “We’re drinking, everyone is carrying on. Somehow or another, the discussion comes up. I don’t know if Vince instigated this one or not. Bradshaw was on this flight too. The topic comes up as we’re on the way over. CM Punk, he fashioned himself as a jiu-jitsu practitioner. Someone broached the question, ‘You did jiu-jitsu. How long do you think you could last with one of these two wrestlers?’ It was Bobby Lashley, who wrestled for the Army, and Shelton Benjamin, who wrestled at Minnesota. Two high-level amateur wrestlers. To Phil’s credit, he said, ‘I’ll tap them out.’ That was about all it took. Now, the pot begins to really get stirred. Shelton, at this time, he didn’t drink at all. I remember Vince pouring a styrofoam cup full of wine, and Shelton just gulps it down. I honestly can’t remember who went first. There is not a lot of room. It’s tight, but there’s enough room. I want to say the first match lasted about 47 seconds. The other one was sub-40, where they had taken them down and pinned him. He didn’t back down, but my goodness, it was like blood in the water and two great white sharks circling. They could not wait. They didn’t disappoint. That was another fine case of Vince McMahon shit disturbing.”
Punk made his shocking return to WWE after almost a decade last month at the Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 pay-per-view event.

CM Punk’s Losses to Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin: The Undertaker Reveals Details
In a recent episode of his podcast “Six Feet Under,” The Undertaker shared some interesting insights about CM Punk’s grappling contests against Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin on a flight in 2006. The WWE crew was en route to Camp Victory in Baghdad for a Tribute to the Troops special program.
According to The Undertaker, the discussion arose during the flight, possibly instigated by Vince McMahon himself. John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) was also present on the flight. The topic of conversation revolved around CM Punk’s self-proclaimed skills in jiu-jitsu. Someone asked Punk how long he thought he could last against either Bobby Lashley, who had wrestled for the Army, or Shelton Benjamin, a former wrestler at Minnesota and high-level amateur wrestler.
To his credit, Punk confidently responded that he could tap them out. This response sparked further interest and excitement among the wrestlers on the flight. Shelton Benjamin, who didn’t drink at the time, was given a cup of wine by Vince McMahon, which he quickly consumed. The atmosphere was tense, with limited space available for the contest.
The first match lasted approximately 47 seconds, while the second match ended in less than 40 seconds, with both Lashley and Benjamin successfully taking down and pinning Punk. Despite his determination, Punk couldn’t match the skills and strength of the two accomplished wrestlers. The Undertaker described the scene as two great white sharks circling their prey, with the anticipation and excitement palpable among everyone present.
The Undertaker also humorously referred to Vince McMahon as a “shit disturber” for instigating such contests. This anecdote sheds light on the camaraderie and competitive spirit that often exists among WWE wrestlers during their travels.
Fast forward to the present day, and CM Punk has made a shocking return to WWE after nearly a decade away from the company. His comeback took place at the Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 pay-per-view event, leaving fans thrilled and eagerly anticipating his future in-ring performances.
