On a recent edition of his “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, Chris Jericho called his match with Konosuke Takeshita at DDT Pro Wrestling his best bout of 2023.

Jericho said, “I think I was kind of slotted to be the heel. But after being in Japan so many times and basically growing up there … it was almost like I was the conquering hero, you know? So it was very much kind of a babyface vs. babyface match. Very hard-hitting. I really enjoyed this match. Like I said, it was one of my favorites that I’ve had all year. I’d never worked Takeshita in a singles match … We’d had a couple of tag team matches a few times over the last year, six-man or whatever it was, but the one-on-one was the real secret.”

He continued, “[It was] hard-hitting, some great moves in there, some great false finishes in there. Takeshita’s very strong. He gave me a Blue Thunder Bomb off the top rope, which everybody asked me about, from Jay White to Trent Beretta to Bryan Alvarez. ‘Are you okay? Are you okay?’ It was a hard bump to take. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but you soldier through it.”

Britt Baker D.M.D, one of the top female wrestlers in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), recently took to Twitter to express her frustration over the lack of promo time she has received on AEW Dynamite this year. In a tweet, she compared her total promo time to that of MJF and Christian Cage, two other prominent wrestlers on the show.

Baker’s tweet highlighted the stark difference in promo time between her and the other wrestlers. While MJF and Christian Cage had 7 and 10 minutes of live promo time respectively on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Baker pointed out that she had received zero minutes of live promo time throughout the entire year.

This revelation by Baker raises questions about the booking and promotion of women’s wrestling in AEW. Despite being one of the most popular and talented wrestlers in the company, it seems that Baker has been overlooked when it comes to promo opportunities. Promos are an essential part of building a wrestler’s character and storylines, and it is crucial for all wrestlers, regardless of gender, to have equal opportunities to showcase their skills on the microphone.

Baker’s tweet has sparked a conversation among fans and critics of AEW about the importance of giving women wrestlers more promo time and equal opportunities to shine. Many fans have expressed their support for Baker and called for AEW to address this issue and give her the platform she deserves.

In addition to Baker’s situation, another noteworthy event in the world of professional wrestling is Chris Jericho’s recent match with Konosuke Takeshita at DDT Pro Wrestling. Jericho, a veteran wrestler with a storied career, described this match as his best bout of 2023 during an episode of his “Talk Is Jericho” podcast.

Jericho praised the hard-hitting nature of the match and highlighted the chemistry he had with Takeshita. He mentioned that despite being initially slotted as the heel, the crowd’s reaction in Japan made it feel like a babyface vs. babyface match. Jericho also mentioned some of the impressive moves and false finishes in the match, including a Blue Thunder Bomb off the top rope delivered by Takeshita.

This match serves as a reminder of Jericho’s versatility and ability to adapt to different wrestling styles and opponents. It also showcases the global reach of professional wrestling and the opportunities for wrestlers to compete in various promotions around the world.

Overall, these recent developments in the world of professional wrestling highlight the importance of equal opportunities for all wrestlers, regardless of gender, and the exciting possibilities that arise when wrestlers have the chance to showcase their skills in different promotions. Fans will continue to follow the careers of Britt Baker and Chris Jericho, eagerly awaiting their next memorable moments in the ring.
