Dakota Kai Reveals William Regal’s Unusual Request and Other Noteworthy News
– ADVERTISMENT –

During a recent Twitch stream, Dakota Kai revealed that William Regal wanted her to punch him in the face at the WWE NXT Wargames 2019 pay-per-view event. At that show, Kai turned on her team, attacking Tegan Nox. She said,

“They asked me to do [push Regal], and I’m like, ‘It’s literally William Regal, legend, I don’t want to get in trouble and do something too far. Too much.’ He pulls me aside backstage and is like, ‘I want you to hit me in the face. I want you to punch me in the face. It needs to look like…I need you to punch me.’ Coach Sara Amato, legend, overheard this conversation and him telling me this and me standing there, scared shitless, ‘Yup, I’m going to punch you in the face.’ He left, she pulled me aside and was like, ‘Don’t punch him in the face.’ After every match, he’s always backstage giving us critiques. He wants legitimacy in this, which is great, we need that. She immediately was like, ‘don’t punch him in the face. Don’t do that.’ I was like, ‘No, never, I was never going to punch him in the face.’ I actually wasn’t. We did the shove that we did, which still worked. It worked for what we wanted. It was like a forearm shove, but I put some sauce behind the shove. He didn’t need to have me do that, but that was cool. The look he gave me after I did that was very, ‘Oh, I messed up.’”

During the latest edition of his “Oh You Didn’t Know” podcast, Road Dogg commented on filling in for Corey Graves on commentary during last Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown. He said,

“They did ask me. They said, ‘Hey would you like to do it?’ It was a one-off, they just needed somebody to do it. I loved it, man. But it’s hard with stuff in your ear and those guys doing those reads and stuff is crazy to me because I was just sitting there listening to it going, ‘Thank god I don’t have to read nothing.’“

Dakota Kai Reveals William Regal’s Request at WWE NXT Wargames 2019

During a recent Twitch stream, Dakota Kai, the New Zealand professional wrestler, opened up about an interesting request made by William Regal, the former professional wrestler and current WWE producer. Kai shared that Regal wanted her to punch him in the face during the WWE NXT Wargames 2019 pay-per-view event.

At the Wargames event, Kai shocked fans by turning on her team and attacking Tegan Nox. This unexpected betrayal added a dramatic twist to the match. However, behind the scenes, there was an even more surprising request from Regal.

Kai recalled, “They asked me to do [push Regal], and I’m like, ‘It’s literally William Regal, legend, I don’t want to get in trouble and do something too far. Too much.’ He pulls me aside backstage and is like, ‘I want you to hit me in the face. I want you to punch me in the face. It needs to look like…I need you to punch me.’”

The request left Kai feeling apprehensive, but she was willing to follow through. However, Coach Sara Amato overheard the conversation and advised Kai against it. Amato cautioned her not to punch Regal in the face. Amato’s intervention was likely due to concerns about potential injuries or negative consequences for Kai’s career.

Despite not fulfilling Regal’s request for a face punch, Kai and Regal were able to create a compelling moment in the match. Instead of a punch, they settled for a forearm shove that still had the desired impact. Kai added some extra force behind the shove, which surprised Regal and added authenticity to the scene.

Kai expressed her respect for Regal’s commitment to ensuring legitimacy in wrestling. Regal is known for providing feedback and critiques to wrestlers after their matches, aiming to improve the overall quality of the performances.

This revelation from Dakota Kai sheds light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics and the dedication of professional wrestlers to their craft. It also showcases the trust and collaboration between wrestlers and producers in creating memorable moments for fans.
