Konnan believes that questions need to be asked as to why Adam Copeland’s arrival in AEW hasn’t seen a sharp increase in the promotion’s ratings.
The October 4, Dynamite, which was Copeland’s first time on the show, saw a 6% drop from the previous week, attracting 800,000.
Despite Copeland’s in-ring debut, last week’s AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday saw the show attract 609,000 viewers, Dynamite’s lowest viewership since October 2021.
On a recent edition of “Keepin’ it 100,” Konnan was asked about Copeland’s arrival and compared the WWE Hall of Famer to CM Punk. He said,
“Here’s the thing, when Punk came back, he did do a spike in the ratings. Edge [Adam Copeland] didn’t. It should have been a little bit higher [the ratings following Copeland’s debut]. This is Edge’s first time there and that is something big. And as a fan [they’d be excited that] ‘Edge is going to be at the next show.’ Why didn’t they have a better house? It’s a question that needs to be asked.”
Konnan’s co-host Disco Inferno agreed with the Mexican legend’s sentiment and argued that there is no ‘buzz’ within AEW at this time.

Adam Copeland, better known by his ring name Edge, made his debut in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on October 4. However, despite the excitement surrounding his arrival, the promotion’s ratings have not seen a significant increase. This has raised questions among fans and wrestling experts as to why Edge’s presence hasn’t had a bigger impact on AEW’s viewership.
On his first appearance, AEW Dynamite experienced a 6% drop in ratings compared to the previous week, attracting 800,000 viewers. This decline continued in the following week’s episode, titled AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday, which garnered only 609,000 viewers. This marked the lowest viewership for Dynamite since October 2021.
Konnan, a former professional wrestler and current wrestling personality, recently discussed Edge’s arrival on his podcast “Keepin’ it 100.” He compared Edge to another WWE Hall of Famer, CM Punk, who had a noticeable spike in ratings upon his return to wrestling. Konnan questioned why Edge’s debut didn’t generate a similar increase in viewership.
Konnan’s co-host Disco Inferno agreed with his sentiment and added that there seems to be a lack of “buzz” within AEW at the moment. This lack of excitement and anticipation could be one of the reasons for the underwhelming ratings following Edge’s arrival.
It is important to note that ratings can be influenced by various factors, including competition from other shows, scheduling conflicts, and overall interest in the product. While Edge’s debut was highly anticipated by fans, it is possible that other factors contributed to the decline in viewership.
AEW has been gaining momentum in the wrestling industry since its inception in 2019. The promotion has successfully signed several high-profile wrestlers from WWE and other promotions, creating a sense of excitement and competition within the industry. However, maintaining consistent ratings growth can be challenging, especially with the ever-changing landscape of television viewership.
As wrestling fans eagerly await the next episode of AEW Dynamite, it remains to be seen whether Edge’s presence will eventually lead to a surge in ratings. The promotion will need to evaluate its marketing strategies, storytelling, and overall product to ensure continued growth and engagement from its audience.
