It is time for another week of the Ultimate Power Rankings from both WWE and AEW. Who improved their stock from last week and who downgraded their position among the rest?
This set ranges from Monday (October 9) and to Sunday (October 15). This means that all the results and highlights from this week’s Raw, NXT, AEW Dynamite, SmackDown, AEW Rampage, and AEW Collision will play a factor in the rankings.
If a wrestler has a (+) next to their name, then that means that they moved up the rankings from last week’s edition. When there is a (-) next to their name, then that means that they moved down from the rankings from last week. If there is nothing next to their name, then that means that they stayed at the same spot.
Without further ado, let’s get into this week’s Power Rankings for WWE and AEW!
WWE TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Drew McIntyre (NR)
The heel turn is most likely on the horizon as McIntyre is signed and delivered to face Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel. Will this match lead to the inevitable turn by McIntyre? Or will McIntyre cheat his way to victory?
9. Damage CTRL (-2)
Bayley managed to squeeze out another win against Zelina Vega on SmackDown, before she and IYO SKY were confronted and knocked off their pedestal by Charlotte Flair. Despite me not wanting it to happen, SKY is most likely going to drop her title to Flair. Sad.
8. Bronson Reed (NR)
Reed is the new #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship, as his hot streak continued on Raw. Reed knocked off Chad Gable and Ricochet in a great triple threat match. Not only is the new push for Reed refreshing, but it’s deserved as Reed is pulling off great showings on a consistent basis.
7. Gunther (-3)
Gunther and Reed will be an awesome match and the Intercontinental Champion should once again chop his way towards another successful title defense.
6. Seth Rollins (-3)
The World Heavyweight Champion’s next title defense is scheduled for Crown Jewel against McIntyre. This match could cause some jeopardy in his title reign as McIntyre is for sure a formidable opponent, as well as aiming towards a heel turn. Still, most signs point toward Rollins still being the main man on Monday nights.
5. Becky Lynch (NR)
The NXT Women’s Champion conquered Tegan Nox on Raw in another retainment. Lynch is highlighted some underused talent in WWE, with Nox and now Xia Li getting some spotlight. What’s next for Lynch? Maybe Li? Or maybe the next opponent is the winner of the NXT women’s breakout tournament.
4. Ilja Dragunov (+2)
Dragunov retained against Dominik Mysterio on NXT and is now in the crossroads with Baron Corbin and Dijak for his NXT Championship. Hopefully this is the start of a great run with the title.
3. The Judgment Day (-1)
Mysterio failed to win the NXT Championship. However, Rhea Ripley got the one-up on Nia Jax and Damian Priest teased cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. Despite some loses, The Judgment Day are still a mainstay every week.
2. LA Knight (+3)
Knight is gearing up to face Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This is a big opportunity on a big stage for Knight, and against someone of Reigns caliber, Knight should shine in this role.
1. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso
Rhodes and Uso take the top spot once again with two successful title defenses. They retained against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn on Raw and then beat Austin Theory and Grayson Waller on SmackDown. It’s unclear how long this partnership will last but for the time being, it’s been a good time.
AEW TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Toni Storm (-5)
Even though Storm is getting TV time and is prevalent, this week was a step down in her new “Timeless” character. It’s getting corny. However, it seems like she will still get this new revamped push and she is squarely in the world title picture because of it.
9. Adam Copeland (NR)
Copeland is in AEW and he had his first official match. The “Rated R Superstar” prevailed over Luchasaurus whilst continuing his ongoing verbal showdown with Christian Cage. It should be a given that Copeland and Cage will fight in the same ring at Full Gear.
8. Kris Statlander (+1)
Statlander retained the TBS Championship against Skyy Blue. The real story, however, is a possible feud with Willow Nightingale. Statlander has been entertaining in this run and she remains the women’s division top star.
7. Bullet Club Gold
Jay White will face MJF for the AEW World Championship at Full Gear and this week, he knocked off a former champion in “Hangman” Adam Page. White and the rest of his club are doing great stuff and their match at Full Gear will be one to behold.
6. Eddie Kingston (-2)
On the Buy In of Dynamite’s Title Tuesday, Kingston retained his NJPW Strong Overweight Championship over Minoru Suzuki. Kingston’s great. When he’s on TV it’s great.
5. Hikaru Shida (NR)
This week, AEW crowned two new champions. One, was the Women’s World title with Shida becoming the first-ever 3x champ. It was arguably a surprise win, but honestly, I’m on board with this as Saraya wasn’t putting forth the best work and the moment of her winning the title in her home country was really the main point of her reign. Here’s hoping Shida’s third reign is better than her short one last time around.
4. Orange Cassidy (NR)
How does it feel to be a 2-time AEW International Champion? Just ask Cassidy. Cassidy stepped in for Jon Moxley and beat Rey Fenix to capture the belt. Now, Cassidy, probably unexpectedly, is back as a champion and if Moxley is ready in time, a rematch between Moxley and Cassidy would probably be a lock for Full Gear.
3. Bryan Danielson (-1)
1-1 for Danielson this week, with a #1 contender’s win over Swerve Strickland on Dynamite, and a TNT Championship defeat to Christian Cage on Collision. Danielson’s next chapter has been off to an outstanding start, and hopefully this rest of the year continues to be a rebirth for him and his career.
2. The Don Callis Family (-1)
Powerhouse Hobbs first match under Don Callis ended in a win over Chris Jericho on Dynamite. This new dynamic is still something that needs to show it has promise, but for now, in this bubble, it’s a plus that Hobbs picked up the win against someone of Jericho’s caliber.
1. Christian Cage (+2)
The best thing going in wrestling continues to excel at what he’s doing with his TNT championship run. Cage continues to face off with Copeland, and also nabbed a win in his title defense against Danielson on Collision.
