AEW World Champion MJF doesn’t agree with the comparisons that have been made by some fans between his storyline with Adam Cole and WWE’s Bloodline saga.
Over the summer, these two angles were the hottest stories of their respective promotions, with both headlining major events in the United Kingdom (Money in the Bank & All In.)
Speaking with “WrestlePurists” MJF said that just because his storyline with Cole and The Bloodline garner strong reactions from fans, that doesn’t make them similar. He said,
“Oh, man, I don’t think it’s similar at all. I’ll tell you what it is. Again, this goes back to an issue that was inside of my sport. It was a while until we had something that made us feel something, and The Bloodline made us feel something. Before The Bloodline, it was just like, ‘I’m tuning into WWE. There’s shit going on, I guess,’ it was just very scattered. It was just scattered. That’s the only way to describe it.
“Then, Bloodline came along, and it made you feel, and now here’s MJF and Adam Cole, and, ‘Oh, my God. I’m feeling something right now. I intensely care about this. That reminds me of the feeling I have when I watch The Bloodline. Maybe it’s the same thing.’ Which is insane, right? Like, if I watch a Saw movie, and I love it, and then the next day I sit down, and I watch fucking Goodwill Hunting, those movies both get me excited. It doesn’t mean that it doesn’t mean that they’re doing the same thing.”
MJF will defend the ROH World Tag Team Championships by himself against The Righteous during tonight’s AEW WrestleDream event.

AEW World Champion MJF has recently addressed the comparisons made by fans between his storyline with Adam Cole and WWE’s Bloodline saga. While both storylines have garnered strong reactions from fans and headlined major events, MJF believes that they are not similar.
In an interview with “WrestlePurists,” MJF expressed his opinion on the matter. He stated that the Bloodline storyline in WWE made fans feel something, as it brought a sense of coherence and intensity to the product. Prior to the Bloodline, WWE’s storylines felt scattered and lacked a unifying theme. According to MJF, his storyline with Adam Cole evokes a similar emotional response from fans, leading some to draw comparisons between the two. However, he emphasized that just because two storylines elicit strong reactions doesn’t mean they are the same.
To illustrate his point, MJF used a movie analogy. He explained that if he watches a horror film like Saw and enjoys it, and then watches a drama like Good Will Hunting the next day and also enjoys it, it doesn’t mean that both movies are doing the same thing. Similarly, the Bloodline storyline in WWE and his storyline with Adam Cole may both evoke intense emotions from fans, but they are distinct narratives with their own unique elements.
In addition to addressing the comparisons, MJF also discussed his upcoming match at AEW WrestleDream event. He will defend the ROH World Tag Team Championships by himself against The Righteous. This showcases MJF’s skills and determination as he takes on the challenge of defending the titles without a partner.
