Elias’ WWE release was a topic of discussion during the latest edition of Eric Bischoff’s “Strictly Business” podcast.
Bischoff started by stating that he could never fully understand Elias, but acknowledged Elias’ talent. He said,
“Harder one to get a feel for. I did work with him quite a bit for the short period of time I was in WWE. We talked pretty regularly and talked about his character and ways to improve and take different approaches to things. I just got the impression that he was committed and a very talented guy. He wasn’t afraid to go out and try things that were new. I just don’t know what his ambition is. He’s not young, at some point in time, you reach a certain age in your late thirties or early forties that you’ve got to kind of make up your mind whether you’re going to pursue this line of work for the next twenty years, or maybe you’re still young enough, shift gears and do something else while you’re still young enough to do it.”
He continued, “I think for someone like Elias, in his age group, I think that discussion is more internal than external — external meaning, I wonder if Tony Khan is interested in me, I wonder if I could go to IMPACT or whatever, I wonder if I can make a couple hundred grand on the indie scene for the next couple of years. That’s a great conversation to have with yourself when you’re in your early twenties or thirties, it’s a little bit more uncomfortable if you’re in your late thirties, early forties.”

Former WWE Superstar Elias’ recent release from the company has sparked discussions among wrestling fans and industry insiders. One notable figure who shared his thoughts on the matter is Eric Bischoff, who discussed Elias’ talent and potential future endeavors on his podcast, “Strictly Business.”
Bischoff admitted that he never fully understood Elias but acknowledged his talent. He revealed that he had worked with Elias during his short stint in WWE and had regular conversations with him about his character and ways to improve. According to Bischoff, Elias was committed and not afraid to try new things, which showcased his versatility and creativity.
However, Bischoff raised a valid point about Elias’ age and the decisions he needs to make regarding his wrestling career. He mentioned that reaching one’s late thirties or early forties is a crucial period where individuals must decide whether they want to continue pursuing wrestling for the next two decades or explore other opportunities while they are still relatively young.
Bischoff suggested that this internal discussion about ambition and future prospects might be more uncomfortable for someone like Elias, given his age. While younger wrestlers may consider options like joining AEW or IMPACT Wrestling or making a decent income on the independent circuit, the decision becomes more challenging for wrestlers in their late thirties or early forties.
The release of Elias from WWE has left fans speculating about his next move. Some wonder if he will explore opportunities in other promotions or venture into different career paths altogether. Only time will tell what Elias decides to do next and how he navigates this crucial phase of his professional life.
