It is time for another week of the Ultimate Power Rankings from both WWE and AEW. Who improved their stock from last week and who downgraded their position among the rest?
This set ranges from Monday (September 18) and to Sunday (September 24). This means that all the results and highlights from this week’s Raw, NXT, AEW Dynamite, SmackDown, AEW Rampage, and AEW Collision will play a factor in the rankings.
If a wrestler has a (+) next to their name, then that means that they moved up the rankings from last week’s edition. When there is a (-) next to their name, then that means that they moved down from the rankings from last week. If there is nothing next to their name, then that means that they stayed at the same spot.
Without further ado, let’s get into this week’s Power Rankings for WWE and AEW!
WWE TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Tommaso Ciampa (NR)
Ciampa is being groomed to be the next challenge for Gunther’s WWE Intercontinental Championship. Ciampa defeated Giovanni Vinci on Raw, and has been on a recent hot streak as of late. An Intercontinental Championship program between these two would definitely be worthwhile.
9. Drew McIntyre (NR)
His Glass-Bro mate, Matt Riddle, may have been released from WWE on Friday, but McIntyre is continuing to shine in singles action once again. McIntyre main evented Raw where he defeated Jey Uso in a rock solid main event match. I for one still believe a heel run is in the works for McIntyre.
8. LWO (NR)
The LWO climbs back into the Top 10 with a tag team win (Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar) over the red hot Street Profits on SmackDown. Besides the win, Mysterio is still United States Champion and LWO is still being featured highly on WWE TV. Thumbs up all around.
7. Shinsuke Nakamura (-1)
Nakamura has been the highlight in his rivalry with Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. This week on Raw, Nakamura faced his former friend Ricochet, losing by disqualification after Ricochet used a steel chair. This heel run with Nakamura has been much needed, and further shows just how good Nakamura can be even with being past his prime.
6. Damage CTRL (NR)
IYO SKY’s first successful title defense occurred this week on SmackDown, as SKY narrowly beat Asuka after some interference by Bayley and Charlotte Flair. The match deservedly reached 20 minutes and both women showed why they are two of the best in all of WWE. It is still great to see SKY as champion and hopefully this run picks up even more steam.
5. Gunther (-2)
The Intercontinental Champion wasn’t too active on Raw. He saw his Imperium mate lose to Ciampa and is heading towards a title defense with Ciampa for the first time. Still, Chad Gable is on the horizon and with that still lurking, Gunther’s title could be in deep jeopardy when that inevitable rematch takes place.
4. LA Knight
Knight was supposed to play a huge part this week on SmackDown, teaming with John Cena. However, due to a medical issue, he was unable to appear. Still, with this being the original plan it is a near certainty that when he becomes cleared, a tag team match with him and Cena on one side is designed to push Knight even further.
3. Cody Rhodes (+2)
Rhodes feud with The Judgment Day marched on this week, with Rhodes picking up a non-title victory over Dominik Mysterio. Despite no solid story being on tap for Rhodes, he continues to pick up wins week after week.
2. The Judgment Day (-1)
New week, same story for The Judgment Day. On TV everywhere and holding titles all around. As far as wins go, it wasn’t all that great for The Judgment Day. Mysterio lost to Rhodes on Raw and then won by disqualification over NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes on NXT TV. Rhea Ripley was a no-show to play up her injury suffered by Nia Jax.
1. Becky Lynch (+1)
The new NXT Champion’s first week as champion retained against Natalya in her first title defense on Raw. Meanwhile on NXT, Lynch teamed with Lyra Valkyrie to beat Tiffany Stratton and Kiana James. Lynch is defending her title in a rematch against Stratton at No Mercy in an Extreme Rules Match.
AEW TOP 10 POWER RANKINGS:
10. Julia Hart (NR)
There is a new #1 contender to the TBS Championship. Hart, now winners of 25 straight matches, picked up 2 more in the win column this week. Hart will challenge Kris Statlander for the title at AEW WrestleDream.
9. Rey Fenix (NR)
In what came off as a surprise (to Fenix as well), we have a new AEW International Champion. Due to an injury suffered by Jon Moxley, an audible was called to give Fenix the shocking title win. Now, Fenix has an opportunity to showcase his talents with a singles title run, however long it may be.
8. The Don Callis Family (NR)
The Don Callis Family has expanded this week, with Sammy Guevara making the change to heel once again. Don Callis has consistently been a bright spot in AEW, and with his family expanding, more air time will be in the works. Guevara, Konosuke Takeshita, and Will Ospreay will team up for the first time as a group, facing Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Kota Ibushi at WrestleDream.
7. Saraya (NR)
Another week has gone by and Saraya is still Women’s World Champion. Saraya retained over her former Outcasts mate, Toni Storm, at Grand Slam.
6. Samoa Joe (-5)
Joe may not be the AEW World Champion, but he definitely went out there and showcased just how great he is. Joe had a great match with MJF, ultimately coming up short. Hopefully Joe continues to be near the top of the card because he has shown in every way that he stay has what it takes to be a champion.
5. Kris Statlander
Statlander took home a six-person mixed tag team win on Rampage this week. Statlander will now look ahead to Hart for WrestleDream.
4. Christian Cage and Luchasaurus (+5)
In another title change this week, Luchasaurus is no longer TNT Champion. Instead, Cage pinned his dinosaur in a three-way match also involving Darby Allin on Collision. Cage has essentially been TNT Champion for awhile, holding the belt during Luchasaurus entrances and whatnot, but it’s awesome to see Cage has a true champion again in wrestling.
3. Bryan Danielson (NR)
Danielson just kicks ass. The “American Dragon” survived in a Texas Death Match against Ricky Starks on Collision in what was a bloody masterpiece. Danielson will now regroup and focus on his Dream Match against Zack Sabre Jr at WrestleDream.
2. Eddie Kingston (NR)
Double-Champ Eddie! The long awaited ROH Championship win has happened, as Kingston added the ROH title to his collection in his home crowd of New York at Grand Slam. Now, the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion will be pulling either double duty or defending both at once, doing the latter in his first defense at WrestleDream against Katsuyori Shibata.
1. Better Than You Bay Bay (+2)
Cole loves MJF so much that he got injured during the run-in at Grand Slam. MJF is still AEW World Champion, and Better Than You Bay Bay will (hopefully) team up at WrestleDream to face The Righteous. Here’s to hoping Cole isn’t all too hurt and can compete in Seattle on October 1.
