As we previously reported here on eWn, there was a major WWE employee meeting that took place in Stamford, Connecticut on Tuesday morning.
Nick Khan summoned all remaining employees to appear at WWE Headquarters today following the layoffs that took place last Friday.
Endeavor and TKO CEO Ari Emanuel, WWE President Nick Khan, and TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon were all in attendance at Tuesday’s meeting.
According to a report from Pwinsider, Nick Khan, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Kevin Dunn and Brad Blum all came out to begin the meeting. Among them, Nick Khan was the only one who spoke. Khan praised Vince McMahon and said while the company didn’t want to do layoffs, they were necessary. He went on to thank everyone for their continued hard work.
Khan then introduced Vince McMahon, who praised Emanuel and said the company had “plateaued” and that he made the deal so the company could get to the next level.
McMahon then introduced Emanuel as “my new boss.” Emanuel briefly talked about how he’s been working alongside WWE for a long time, acting as their agent nearly 20 years ago. The Endeavour CEO went on to say that he’s looked to McMahon for advice in the past and Vince always gave him the right advice. He added that he has high hopes for WWE and noted that his daughter Ashlee works for WWE. One source said Emanuel’s daughter has worked for WWE for some time now as a creative assistant.
Finally, it was added that Vince McMahon’s comments about WWE plateauing garnered a number of eye rolls, with multiple people referencing the company touting its record business numbers since Vince McMahon “retired” and Triple H took the helm. The comment has reaffirmed the belief of many that McMahon completed the deal in order to return to WWE.
