Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland broke off as a tag team following the ROH Final Battle 2022 pay-per-view event this past December.
Strickland turned on Lee and formed the Mogul Empire, however, both men are yet to face each other in a 1-on-1 encounter.
As we previously reported here on eWn, AEW had been planning to finally book the match, but it never materialized.
On today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed why AEW hasn’t booked the the matchup yet. He said,
“They’re just not going to do it. They already made that call. They’re just not going to do it. I know that there’s — what was the deal? People think it won’t be good? We get not so good matches on TV all the time. Just freaking do it.”
Lee and Strickland have battled each other in tag team bouts since their breakup, but they have yet to have a singles match.
