Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.
So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!
I’m sure she has a lot of ideas she’s working on, like her diner she’s opening up and whatnot, as well as just wanting to spend more time with her family. All those intangibles aside, the real question is “What do you think her next step should be if she continues in pro wrestling?”
I don’t think AEW will end up hiring her, but that’s obviously the next biggest promotion, so if she’s looking for the best price and platform, aim for that. It’s much more likely, though, that she’ll pop up in either Impact Wrestling or the indies. Personally, I think she’d be best off in NWA. She could be a viable option to dethrone Kamille, I could see her 2 primary characters (Southern belle type and military veteran) appealing more to that audience and the schedule wouldn’t be too taxing. Plus, they wouldn’t probably get in the way of her continuing her modeling if she’s going to keep doing that.
I’ll chuckle if she ends up just being Macey Evans for her ring name.
Ultimately, he might not have any idea right now. But if I had to venture a guess, I would say I expect to see him popping up in All Elite Wrestling. Not only is Christian there to provide a good insight on the pros and cons, but Edge is close to FTR and plenty others in the company, too. He’s got lots of friends there that he’s not worked with in a long time, and there are a ton of wrestlers he could be interested in stepping in the ring with.
It’s more conceivable to me that we’ll see Edge vs. Kenny Omega, Edge vs. Sammy Guevara, Edge vs. Darby Allin and so on within a year, than that we’ll see Edge having a program with Karrion Kross or Cody Rhodes, for instance. If not AEW-bound, I think he’s going to retire for good, or at least, take a few months before making any decision so that he can see what the Endeavor setup becomes.
Knowing AEW, they’ll probably have at least another match or two added to the Zero Hour, as that currently only has 1 match and they typically have multiple. What matches? Your guess is as good as mine. A lot of this card feels pretty thrown together and not exactly the most properly built. AEW has a tendency of just tossing people into a match and saying “Aren’t you interested?” as it is, especially for pre-shows. So if you factor all that in, it wouldn’t shock me if we had something random like Keith Lee against Komander just because “why not”.
Any actual feuds going on would likely save themselves for All Out, as that card still needs so much more going for it.
My favorite theory I’ve seen tossed out there is Chris Hero being one of them. It’d be an easy call (assuming he can perform) to have Claudio Castagnoli just say he brought him in. Hero’s working for AEW as it is, so he’s in-house.
Shota Umino is probably a lock. He’s one of their go-to options for teaming with these guys.
Minoru Suzuki is another likely candidate, and I think we do need to look at New Japan in general. If not Suzuki, maybe Zack Sabre Jr? I know Nigel McGuinness is on a lot of people’s lists, but I feel like the chances of him competing were mostly tied to whether or not he could have a match with Bryan Danielson, who is not going to be a mystery teammate. If anything, I could see Nigel costing BCC the match to set that up for down the line, if he’s going to be involved in anything.
Right now, I’m thinking Umino, Suzuki and Sabre Jr. Hero would be a nice surprise and if there’s anyone else out there in the running for a spot, it’s news to me. I’m just hoping it isn’t building up to a lame idea of The Butcher, The Blade and Kip Sabian or whatever.
