On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Mickie James explained why she isn’t a fan of The Schism faction in WWE NXT.
James stated that it has less to do with the wrestlers and more with the name. She said,
“I just don’t like the name. I hate it so much. It’s a massive turnoff every time the word is said. And I know it’s not what that word means, but I feel like this is a representation of wrestling and our audience. I feel that about 80 percent of the audience is thinking the same thing I’m thinking, and every time they say the word, they’re all going, ‘Ew. Ew.’ What is it? What is it? And I know Andre [a producer for ‘Busted Open Radio’] looked it up before during the break, and it means a split, which makes sense. I’m sure some hipster came up with this cool name, and really, now they’re clinging to it because I don’t love it at all. I like the idea of everything that it is, but even when I go, ‘Well, what is Schism?’ Are these guys Schismy?’ I don’t really know.. Ava’s involved, and I love Ava so much. Then I’m like, ‘Oh, I don’t want to hate it; I wanna love it.’ And I like the masks and all the things, and the leader, and the whole thing. The package is cool. I hate the name. I hate it so much.”
On a recent edition of the “Cheap Heat” podcast, Brian Gewirtz reflected on Triple H’s reaction to a dark segment on an episode of WWE RAW where Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson called CM Punk.
The Rock was at the venue to film Fighting with My Family after RAW went off the air, and he attempted to make a phone call to Punk while addressing the live crowd, but Punk didn’t answer. At Starrcast 2019, Punk noted that he had bad cellular reception at the time and missed the call. Gewirtz said,
“We were shooting ‘Fighting With My Family’ at Staples Center. The Rock was in the ring and they were chanting ‘CM Punk.’ Rock doesn’t know what’s going on with the whole Punk-WWE backstage stuff, and he pulls out his phone and is like, ‘What if I called CM Punk right now?’ Triple H turned to me back at Gorilla and was like, ‘someone want to remind him we’re in a f**king lawsuit with this guy?’ Punk didn’t answer, he was doing something else at the time, so it didn’t really matter. Triple H said it tongue in cheek, not legitimately angry.”
