Brian Kendrick Names Shawn Michaels The ‘Perfect Template’ For Wrestling
– ADVERTISMENT –

Wrestling veteran Brian Kendrick trained under the tutelage of Shawn Michaels and believes the two-time WWE Hall of Famer is the quintessential template of American wrestling.

After his 1998 retirement due to back issues, Michaels would open his own wrestling academy which in addition to Kendrick, would train Bryan Danielson and Lance Cade.

Speaking with the “VOC Nation Wrestling Network,” Kendrick praised his mentor’s work in the ring as an example other wrestlers should follow. He said,

“He’s the best. As far as the American style of modern pro wrestling, I think he’s the perfect template. So it [training with Shawn] was amazing. On top of that, I was a fan of his work. Not just an admirer of what he does, but I enjoyed it, too. So yeah, if I could’ve picked anybody to train under, it would have been Shawn Michaels, and I was lucky enough for that to happen.”

Michaels would return to action in 2002 before retiring again in 2010 but would compete one final time in 2018 as part of a WWE-Saudi Arabia show.
