Freddie Prinze Jr. – ‘Brock/Cody Respect Segment Is A Sign Lesnar Is Retiring’

Was the show of respect between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023 a sign of Lesnar’s imminent retirement? Freddie Prinze Jr. thinks so.

In the second match of the night, Rhodes defeated Lesnar and the pair shook hands after the match in an unplanned spot.

On his “Wrestling with Freddie” podcast, the former WWE writer claimed that Lesnar was giving the ‘rub’ to Rhodes and others ahead of an impending retirement. He said,

“I know Brock kinda endorses Cody there and people have been critical of it. Brock can kinda do whatever he wants. He’s putting guys over now. He’s getting ready to retire. Let him do what he wants. Don’t trip on that.”

At the post-SummerSlam press conference, Rhodes said that the world will realize just how special Lesnar is once he’s finished in the ring.

With SummerSlam out of the way, Lesnar is reportedly going on a hiatus from WWE and is not expected to wrestle again this year.
